It looks more like a backpack but has only one strap so you can swing it around and access stuff without having to take it off. This one will hold a 15.4" laptop but they have smaller ones as well. It has PALs and a CCW so you don't have to burn your man-card.

If your just talking about little stuff, get a Maxpedition EDC pocket organizer and keep it in a cargo pocket. Good little piece of kit and when you need to haul more stuff, just toss it in the top of a smaller backpack.

Hill People Gear just came out with a new attache case. It docks to their packs, so it may have some extra utility. Personally, every time I try a "briefcase" style bag for my laptop and work/school things I always end up ditching it in favor of a backpack. Backpacks are so much more useful to me.

Funny stuff in this thread. If your into the practical/tactical stuff, check out the Sneaky Bag Trick or Treat. It's large enough to carry a broken down M4, mags, duty belt, vest, etc...has MOLLE webbing, but looks like your run of the mill laptop bag. I have one and really like it, you would really have to know what to look for to notice what is inside it.
