Waxed canvas blaze Orange hat

Back in the day before Realtree and when surplus stores actually carried wool pants, I got a Filson Tin Coat. It looked cool but it stank to high heaven with the treatment they put on it. As I recall, it was pretty high priced for the time. I wore it out a few times in sleety weather. It completely soaked through quickly. I gave it a few chances but it performed the same every time. I kept it around for years but never wore it again. Eventually it went in the trash. It even made the trash can smell like kerosine. I think it would be good if your were an actor playing an outdoorsman. Filson wool is nice (and terribly expensive) but it's to warm and heavy for what I do, and what I do isn't anything special.

A goretex ball cap and a hood on your rain gear are a good combination.

Check out Stormy Kromer. They have a waxed canvas cap that I wear guiding up in Alaska and I love it. Not sure if they make it in orange. I think it’s called the waxed rancher.
