Going to Colorado September 15th-25th for elk hunt and wondering if you guys would recommend a pack cover for rain? And what size for a Kifaru DT1 7200 cubic inches? Here in AZ we don't get rain a lot! First backpack hunt in Colorado so stoked and trying to get everything in order before the hunt!

Thanks everyone!

Stone Glacier has one on their site that fits up to the Sky 7400. I also use an Outdoor Research Lightweight Pack Cover in color Supernova (Orange) for Rifle season.

Aron recommended the Sea to Summit Ultra Sil Pack Cover in green for my DT1 - http://www.seatosummit.com/products/display/4
Works fine.

If I'm in a truly monsoonal region like NW AZ where rain floods roads in seconds, I will go with the STS poncho tarp and leave my rain pants behind.

I've got a Jimmys tarp pack cover that I've never used I'll part with if you're interested. Big enough to fit an EMR2

I just bought a Jimmy Tarps cover and took it out last night in the rain and walked around the neighborhood with it on my pack and am happy with it so far.

I have a Kuiu and a Zpack cuben fiber. I used them both on my DT1 when I used to have a DT1. They both worked very well, although the Kuiu probably held on better because it has a better strapping system. That being said, the Zpack cover works well enough and weighs 1.4 oz compared to 6.1 oz for the Kuiu, so the Zpack cover is what I use now.

I have the STS also. Same one Bruce has. I like this because the strap system is so perfect for our kinds of packs. The corded buckle that holds it on fits perfectly between the lumbar pad and the shoulder pads.

Thanks everyone I'm gonna have to look up prices and compare just on a budget and trying to make everything happen! I appreciate all of the responses and going to look them up and let you know which one I decide!

I have an Eberlestock Camo/orange reversible, used one morning in snow, that I'd let go for cheap. PM me if interested.

FYI- Jimmy Tarps pack cover was $30 and weights 2.4oz and can compress down smaller than a golf ball. The stuff sack that is built in is bigger than a baseball/smaller than a softball.

Dry bags for your essential gear or a pack liner, rain covers are an absolute pain in the ass, and will get shredded the moment you walk through brush. Great for hikers, but off trail those things are garbage

I used either a sea to summit bag or the two sided eberlestock bag in recent years and both work great (first on eberlestock bags and now with Kifaru bags). I do quite a bit of off trail stuff and they hold up well. I hate a wet bag, plus I use my cover at night to cover my bag and frsme. I'm always in a small solo shelter so bag and bow sit outside. I will tuck the straps underneath the bag and make sure it's not sitting in a depression. I use a bow sling from primos (cut the sling off) and use that at night too. Probably overkill or but gives me piece of mind. I seem to always find the rain and the cover keeps the pack pretty dry.

the jimmy is no joke. its a no brainer. buy it you will be stoaked to the op..... its nearly non existant and works as advertised. you wont have buyer remorse. a exellent piece of kit in your pack.

Nix this idea, won't fit a loaded DT1, not even close. I know, I own one and customized it.

The DT1 can acheive condo size! LOL

I'm gonna have to look into that one! Almost everyone has recommended it!
