In northern states, dry fields, starting out I'd build a spread of honkers and throw in some spinners for ducks. the honkers will stick out well from a distance and ducks seem to finish the same. eventually have worked in duck full bodies as well but I'm not sure if that was a necessity or something I thought I had to do. When youre in the right spot it doesnt seem to matter.

Where you hunting and what for.

We’ve set 1 or 2 one trip and 350 the next. Depends on what and where.

Small water us 3-7. Big water 60 is about where results start coming in.

Ripples in a spread are important.

Good luck.
This is about perfect. OP your question is too general, we need more specifics.

We hunt a lot of ponds, big ponds and small ponds. By the time the birds get down here they've seen everything and been shot at and screamed at a hundred times. Big spreads will flare them. Sometimes I'll put out 5 greenwing real decoys and that's it. Sometimes I'll throw 5 teal to one side and 3 Pintail to the other and that's a big spread. When we hunt the bags we use more volume but honestly it's pass shooting anyway, if we have two dozen Redheads out they'll swing low to look at them just the same as if we had ten dozen.
