Water Purification

What are you guys recommending for water purification? Multiple bottles? The GeoPress? Or Lifestraw bottle? Or prefer gravity into bags then into bottles? Tablets?

What’s everyone using ? 7 day spike camp CO Sept

or this.. either way you are good, but Boiling water is always the safest.. so there is also that option.

I have a Katadyn pump. The befree is way lighter, more compact, just as fast, and you just need a trickle to fill it up.

I use a Katadyn pump in camp. I carry a Sawyer mini and a Steripen in my pack.

I have the Platypus Gravityworks and its kind of finicky on pressure. I've had to blow air in from the clean side to get it going as well. Ultimately, it works fine. I do want a more expeditious way, thinking about getting the big Katadyn gravity.

The BeFree is a great option, and marries up with the Hydrapak collapsible bottles. I like those little better than the smaller bags the BeFree comes with. I also have and use a Grayl, which I love the simplicity of when I don't need to be weight conscious. I gave up on pumps and Steripens.

Pump filter (either Katadyn Hiker or MSR Trailshot) followed by Aquamira drops.

I’m the water maid for 3 usually so I use an MSR guardian to keep my sanity filtering liters at a time. Always try to camp near enough to water to leave it there since it’s a brick.

We'll usually have Katadyn Gravity Befree 10L at camp but don't personally carry a filter, i just carry the aquamira water treatment drops.

Same here. Katadyn pump for camp. BeFree for day trips away from camp.
