I’m hoping some locals to Northern NM would be willing to PM me with some general info about the availability of water, north of Santa Fe. I have tried reaching out to both the NE and NW field offices for info but have yet to get a response. This is the only part of my plan that I see a gap in and I’d like to close it well prior to the hunt.

Are you asking about creeks, seeps and springs to filter drinking water?

My experience has been that unless you are on a decent sized creek or pond, you should not count on there being water. Poor snowfall and a hot and dry summer so far don’t make for a good outlook. Hopefully monsoon season brings much needed rain.

Yes, asking about surface water in the back country. I’ve been to this area a few times years ago but there was plenty of snow over the winter and a good monsoon in the summer. I know it was a pretty dry winter and has been a hot summer so far which makes for very different conditions than the last time I visited. Your experience is what I was planning on but also I’m keeping my fingers crossed that someone tells me different. I’m willing to discuss units via PM but I don’t want to put the units out there on the forum.
