I have two Casio's that took a dump on me with in a year. I have a $5 digital walmart watch that is probably 4 years old and works like a champ. I only wear it when hunting. For work I wear a Citizen Eco-Drive. No complaints with it.

Is it the norm to have plastic movement housing inside? My $100 Casio had a white nylon insert. I was less than impressed.

It can even have a USGI lensatic compass hanging off of the side of it. I want it so big my wife really gets mad when I whack her with it in my sleep.

Bahaha!!! We should start a club. Nothing like catching a 3am rib shot from a pissed off woman because of my watch!

Yeah I only take my watch off to dress animals and on vacation. I have had this specific G-Shock 3 years and it has definitely taken some abuse.

I've had a lot better luck with the Casio Pathfinder series than I have my Suunto watches.

The altimeter on the Casio's I've owned is more accurate and I hardly ever calibrate it....Suunto has been off more than on.

I've had good luck with my Suunto but man does it get beat up and show the wear super easy. I'm another never take it off unless a battery change is needed. My Suunto looked like crap after a few months and after a year it stopped showing any new wear because it looks so worn. The cheap band broke twice which they immediately sent new ones for free, after the second break I picked up a nylon band for it off etsy.

Batteries last about a year and it needs constant calibration. It has been a good watch and I'll keep it till it dies but it is my last Suunto and probably last ABC watch as I tend to use my GPS for everything when in the woods since it is much more accurate the the Suunto and my previous Casio Pathfinder.

Crap, maybe I need to rethink the good luck comment, in time/date function it has been good. Durability of the outer components not so good and calibration hasn't been great either for the altimeter and compass.

Right now, my pathfinder is doing nothing except remind me how time can crawl in a turkey blind :)

It's a great watch. Beat to death looking. And one pin on the strap broke. Cost me $15 to fix it from the factory.

For a hunting/field watch, I've been running Timex Indiglo Expeditions for about 25 years. Add a simple strap band and a Suunto M9 compass on the opposite (bottom) wrist side and you're into the watch for a maximum of $60 ($25 for the watch, $25 for compass, and $10 for the strap band). Damn near bombproof, gives you night/day readability, extraordinary battery life, compass capabilities, and if it breaks you replace it cheap.

For my day/business wear watch, my wife got me a Hamilton. Superb watch, but I won't wear it in the field because of the Timex and it's attributes.

Get yourself a Citizen Eco-Drive... My wife got me one in Ti for my anniversary 11 years ago. It's been on 4 continents, the equator, north of the Arctic Circle, underwater, fallen down a scree chute (with my arm in it). I wear it everyday, everywhere in every condition.

I've never had a pathfinder but I never even bother calibrating my sunnto anymore, It seems I walk 40 ft and it's already off again, pain in the ass.

I agree, I went through a ton of them just trying to find a watch face that wasn't cluttered. I thought the 3000 model was the "cleanest" appearance. I mean, do you really need all those city abbreviations printed around the bezel?

Hard to decide between a suunto and casio since I read more positive reviews of the casio, very consistently......but the suunto is a much cleaner display. Form vs function for sure.

I think the new Garmin GPS watch looks interesting, just more than i wanted to spend.

Went the other way, after a 20 year break, started wearing a watch again.
And it don't ring, send or receive text, messages, or even communicate wirelessly with the nearest transmogrifier.
Which is why I like it!
