Just finished a hunt in Washington with a Scam Outfitter.

I have decided to share my experience on a hunt where I believe I was scammed by Northwest outfitting, Shane Barbour (also known as Hillbilly) from Graham, Washington. In January of 2022 my wife and I purchased 2 guided Elk hunts from Northwest (NW) Outfitting at the International Sportsman Expo

Beware of this guy as well, no personal experience with either but it sounds like they are cut from the same cloth from the stuff I’ve heard

Yes! How did you know?

Biggest scammer out there. I was an outfitter in Montana and met him at an outdoor show. Everything sounded great and I sent a few of my clients there to get Roosevelts. I also went there to guide them. Not one single word Mike Vaughn said was true. Not one. He treated his lovely wife like a dog too. I hated that.

Well Karma comes around then because he’s now divorced.
Just a couple highlights.
The “cook” he hired was a lady living in the hotel he had his clients in.
The first night I went over the Pot stench was too much. I never went back. Funny to hear all the excuses guys made to not eat dinner every night.
They shoot a small buck here and there.
I know they haven’t killed an Elk in a few Years!!!
He has all his hunters in stands in a very small area!!! Basically covering trails if Elk move from surrounding fields.
I can’t believe he has that many guys covering
Such a little area.
I have several more crazy things but I will just end with the most unprofessional and disgusting Outfitter/ hunter I have ever seen.

He had fully guided hunters paying top dollar to Hunt the one property he leases that actually holds elk. But then he would send the semi guided or unguided hunters just over the property line hunting the trails that the hunters were hoping the elk wood used to get to them.

He would dump a pile of apples on the ground the day before hunters arrived and tell them that he had been baiting the site all summer.

His one son is a carbon copy of him. He would take that kid everywhere with him. His other son who was born with only one leg and had a prosthetic would more or less stay with his mother. That boy was the sweetest kid you could ever meet. Disgusting is pretty accurate. He is a disgusting human being not just a terrible outfitter. No surprise that he is divorced. I’m glad she finally made a stand.
