After hearing about this site from a couple of buddies (brockA, vandam72) and a few days of lost productivity at work ive decided to join. This summer and fall was my first expiernce with the backcountry after years of hunting locally. I realized about 4 miles into my second 11 mile trip in of the year with a pack tipping the scales at 72lbs that I have alot to learn. I was supriesed to see how many guys are on here from WA and look forward to making next years trip more successful(and lighter) with the knowledge gained from this site.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
SHFT I appreciate the spreadsheet.
I need to create another spreadsheet on how much money this site costs me :). $200.00 and some change so far at KUIU on some merino base layer.
My sleep system is the next thing that will be completely overhauled.
Do you guys have a filled out check list you would be willing to share?

Yep, new to register and previous lurker. Born in Wenatchee, live in Prosser, 51 and hunted since 12. The peoples republic requires I choose my weapon and that's been a bow the last 10 years (except for special permits). Not very successful with it (1 bull elk) but having fun. I've been very lucky in drawing the second ever Swakane sheep tag in 2000 and in 2010 I drew bull moose in Selkirk. Both tags filled with a rifle and very nice animals. I'm a few days away from my late archery Entiat buck hunt. I've done a lot of backcountry hunts over the years - even before it became so popular - and still do them. Mostly hunt solo since going archery as my friends still use rifle.

I started looking at Rokslide after searching Darrin Cooper's name for info and that brought me here - I really liked his contributions to Eastmans and am very glad he's still sharing his knowledge here. His articles have been of great help to me and still are.
