I've been on four solo local overnighters in this bag since Christmas. I had been using it last year in the back of my SUV for campground camping. Stored it flat at my office, so thought I was taking proper care of it. It's always been a poor performer, a bit cold at 50 degrees. Just thought it was because it was an inexpensive bag.
Had an accident and spilled some Gatorade on it on my last trip. Decided it would be a good down bag for me learn how to wash. Got some Nikwax Down Wash, followed the instructions, then put it in the dryer with 6 wool dryer ball. All I can say is "WOW"! It was never this fluffy, even when new. It literally feels like it has twice the loft it had before. I probably should have at least done the dryer thing the first day I got it, since it is packed so tight in the bag from the factory.
Next one I wash will be a WM Sycamore. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
QUESTION: Does anyone fluff a new bag in the dryer before they use it?
Check out this loft. The bag is over 8" thick now.
