WTF?!?
First world problems right here....
First world problems right here....
A burger and sandwich for lunch the next day and I’d been happy…OP. Your money, time, hunt, your decision. No right or wrong on this one for me to judge,
On another note, if the Guide had brought in a loaf of bread, so you could have had a ramen hot dog or taco.. hard to walk away from that..
Exactly why your opinion carries no weight. You are able to diy and didn’t drop a good amount of money for that 1 limited days to hunt..View attachment 450358
Cant stop won’t stop
You prop up the front end and the back end. The sides will flap in the wind, but who cares…Pro tip #1: Always bring your own food.
Pro tip #2: Elk are made out of food.
Also, how does one partially setup a tent?
Can’t pay via CC due to they have to pay the fees. It has to be paid in full 3-6 months before hunt date.Wow. I would have taken photographs of my food and the accommodations, perhaps recorded some of the owner's BS and stayed, done my best to kill an elk and then eat that. When I got home I would submit a chargeback with my credit card issuer for a portion of the fee paid and then I would have drafted my report with the outfitter's name included.

If I knew someone with horses and camp gear, I have no problem leading the way back in there. I’ll bring the noodles!!Wow. Lot to this one. I totally understand you leaving. However, I would have eaten Aspen Leaves, slept underneath a pine needle covered emergency shelter and stayed. I would have eaten whatever that SOB brought out. I would have been there to hunt elk with or without a guide.
The good news! You now have a great "Honey Hole" location to take nice bull elk from for the rest of your life and you can do it DIY! and YOU GOT YOUR MONEY BACK! I am sure a few of us will be more than happy to assist you with your DIY next year. It appears he sucked as a Outfitter but he knows how to find the elk!
There was NOTHING THERE to help set up…If you woulda jumped in and helped finish camp, he might have taken you to his good spot
He's not wrong!Paul Medel, AKA the elk nut once told me a quote that will always stick
“Good elk hunters make good sufferers”
You have to be willing to suffer to be good at elk hunting, or pay 20k

Great point Chris. I thought about it and wanted too but I just do t think I could pack in and pack everything plus an elk out without it spoiling. I guess I’m a puss and don’t feel adequate enough to do it by myself, hence the guided hunts…
Just curious why you can't diy?A diy’er has no experience to comment on a paid guided hunt. If I were able to diy I’m with ya, dirty water and Ramon all week…but not a paid hunt
Serious question.Exactly why your opinion carries no weight. You are able to diy and didn’t drop a good amount of money for that 1 limited days to hunt..
Sorry, I thought the tent needed work. Really just posted that in jest. I’d be pissed too. Reminds me of when my wife and I went on our honeymoon 29 years ago to a bed and breakfast in Leadville. It said they served a continental breakfast. I dreamed all night of trying different foods from all the continents. Imagine my surprise at toast and boxed cereal. First thing I thought of when you said ranch dinnerThere was NOTHING THERE to help set up…
Love this. Until I got married, I thought it was “continental” like the continental army. I’d envision like Ben Franklin eating his English muffin with jelly from a tiny plastic tub.Sorry, I thought the tent needed work. Really just posted that in jest. I’d be pissed too. Yeah, when he said it cost 9k, it definitely provided a bit more context. It's a rough deal, no doubt. I was skeptical he was going to get his refund, but it sounds like that panned out.To the guys saying they would have hung in there..
The guy paid $10k!
A $10k guided hunt is an "experience" which usually consists of gourmet meals and lodging. Not setting up your own tent and eating ramen and day old egg mcmuffins.. ****, eating a fresh egg mcmuffin straight from the drive thru would have been enough to wreck me for the week.
If he simply wanted to have someone show him where to sit at a wallow he probably could have done that in Colorado for a third of the price.
Some of you guys are just being contrarian for the sake of being something..
