Warranty return through FFL, same receiver

I sent out a rifle for warranty to an unspecified manufacturer

They asked for my FFL upfront in case the receiver needed to be replaced.
They claim to have fixed the issue and don't need to replace the receiver. I gave my return address so they could return my gun back to me, however they are now insisting they'll ship it to my FFL and I'll need to do a transfer.

I'm a bit aggravated by this as:
1. It's the same serialized receiver being returned and ownership never changed, why in the world would I need to do another 4473 FFL transfer? I already did one when I bought the rifle new! This isn't an ATF requirement.
2. This wasn't stated up front & I've had many other manufacturers ship warranty returns directly back to me, signature required.
3. An FFL transfer is a hassle for me as I need to drive somewhere, coordinate with the FFL etc. My free time is valuable to me.
4. This "policy" wasn't stated up front when I initially asked about warranty and I provided my FFL info stating if needed to replace the serialized receiver

Am I the A-hole? Or is this not unusual?

I don't think you would need to transfer if its the same SN.
Not sure of your local laws however

ETA: I had an OEM destroy my old receiver once (I damaged it), remake it with same SN, and ship to my door without FFL

Yeah, I've had Ruger and Smith & Wesson mail right back to me when the serial stayed the same. Bit frustrating this manufacturer is giving me the runaround. I'm not even confident they fixed the issue.
