I archery hunt in Illinois and can never seem to keep my feet warm in December and January. What do you all recommend for warm hunting boot?

Lacrosse Alphaburly for late season sits. They're super warm depending on which insulation you opt for

Cabelas 800 gram thinsulate rubber boot with thick wool socks. Not the best for long treks to stand but I've never felt the cold with this combo.

Arctic Shields for me also. Been using em for about 15 years now. And if it's gonna be real chilly, I toss in a hand warmer in each right on top of of my boot.

Pick up a pair of pac boots. Schnee’s makes some awesome ones. Their pac boot extremes are rated -20 comfort -40 active, that should do the trick, they have many other models as well.

I get cold feet easily. Best thing I've found is to use surplus Mickey mouse boots. As soon as the weather gets to 30 in the morning I start wearing them. I start with a thin synthetic sock and the boots are untied once I'm in the tree or blind. If I don't untie them my feet get too hot.

As weather gets colder as season progresses I end up with a thicker wool sock and leave them tied loosely. They're heavy so depending on how far you have to walk you may want to wear something lighter to the stand and switch when you get there. I'll never be without another pair.

Start with your socks. If you aren't using a good cold weather sock then boots can only do so much. Try to minimize your foot sweat. Might mean changing socks once you are on stand if you walk in very far.

Then get the lined boot cover things, if regular insulated boots aren't working.

Some of the better overboots are warm as chit....I have a couple of pair of artic shields for a bit cold and one other, I think icebreaker? for real cold it is thick and warm as toast.

Zap has it right! Best thing I've found. A boot warmer in the bottom of each for those really cold days!

I wear Schnees Pack boots with good wool socks then stick a toe warmer on and stick a foot warmer on the bottom of my sock then put another sock on. Good to about -25degrees below 0 . My face might be freezing but my feet will be warm !!!

Quality merino wool socks and 800 gram thinsulate boots if you are walking any distance. In bitter cold weather, I use wool overboots(not sure they are still made). I tried a couple different pac boots and my feet got cold on stand and not the best to hike in. They are ok for stuff in the teens or 20"s but not all day in bitter cold. Overboots are the way to go. Also, winter boots need to have room in the toe box. If your feet are tight in your winter boots they will get cold. Go a size up if you have to. I hunted several years in Alberta and that is what worked for me when it was negative or single digits and we were out all day.

Another solution that I saw used was the Heater Body Suit. I hunted with an outdoor writer once in Alberta and he swore by it in Minnesota winters. Works great for stand hunting. Total body solution.

I wear Muckmasters and am ok down to about 10 degrees. They make a couple models that have more insulation than those so that’s what I’d try.

I’m currently debating between the Arctic Mucks and Arctic Shield Cover’s.

My Muckmasters fit like a glove and are literally as comfortable as hiking boots. I’ve walked 4-5 miles in them in dry, wet, and snowy conditions, and they perform beautifully.

Arctic Shield boot covers. Then you can pick whichever boot you like and is comfortable. The key with the boot covers is to put them on when you get in the stand. If you wait until your feet start to get cold they don't work near as well.

LaCrosse Alpha Burly Pro 1600g have been good to me. I tried the Icebreaker boot blankets and they were warm, but so bulky to carry in and up the tree. I switched to the 1600g boots and with a good sock and liner, my feet feel about as good I could hope for sitting long hours in the cold.

The Ice Breaker boot blankets are a step up in warmth vs the arctic shield. A heater body suit or IWOM with that and you would be ready to sit in the coldest conditions.

I've always had a foot that is clamy and sweat easy thus making my feet cold on stand quick. For years I wore pack boots and always still got cold. About 3 or 4 years ago I switched to a over sized insulated rubber boot (2-3 sizes bigger then I wear). Huge difference. Light liner with heavy wool over and it keeps the heat in and I can move the air around. If the toes get cold in the 0-25° Michigan temps I'll put toe warmers on the TOP of my feet where they actually get cold. Has worked well for me.

Put on light socks for the trek to the stand, and then put your feet into small plastic garbage bags before going into the boot. Get to the stand, cool down, socks come off into the bags, dry socks on, you've got warm and dry boots even if you sweat on the way in.

I like LaCrosse too, with plenty of space for thick socks.
