After carrying this rifle last season I just don’t like the feel of the detachable bottom metal. It got in my both in my hand and with my shooting style.

What are my options for a sleeker fit.

The rifle is a proof mtr in 6.5 creedmoor

I am hoping to sell or trade for something.

Hawkins makes a M5 Oberndorf BDL style bottom metal and would be a good fit for your rifle.

I just got the Hawkins M5 Oberndorf for a long action and I like it. Another alternative that looks good is the newer Hawkins Hunter DBM bottom metal that has a relatively flush fit magazine.

I’m guessing I would also need other parts with the bottom metal. Unless it comes in a kit.

Box and spring is what comes to mind thinking of my other rifles.

Since you have an M5 inletted stock, the switch is easy.

You could run the Hawkins Hunter DBM and the appropriate magazine. Depending on the caliber.

Or a M5 Oberndorf. For the BDL you'd also need an internal box magazine, spring and follower. You action would also need to have feedlips and the ability to use a Wyatt's extended box.

It looks like you may have an Origin. Those have feedlips for standard length internal boxes, not extended. However they do take AICS magazines. They do not take our LA Magazines without modification though. SA, you're ok.

I would personally order the Hawkins hunter DBM and a magazine that fits whatever you’re shooting and see how you like it. I don’t have one, but pictures/reviews show that it’s pretty sleek and far less obstructive than standard DBM like you have.

Unfortunately for me, the hunter DBM in long action does not have magazines available in 30-06 based cartridges (280ai for me). Been waiting forever.
I am in the same boat and HATED the DBM. Awkward and noisy. I finally succumbed and ordered a new stock with BDL inlet, along with new bottom metal.

We are introducing a 280AI/284 WIN magazine next month, along with a couple other magazine accessories to give folks multiple options for flush magazines.

I have the hunter bds and I’m running the short mag magazine. Like the way it’s almost completely flush mounted
