Wanted: lightweight 3-18x scope

An individual having success is about the lowest level of evidence. You want to see how they have performed for many many people to have some confidence that what you have experienced isn’t just luck.
I only care how they perform for me. Other people dont do the same thing i do.

Nothing. Just decided to move to something more reliable. My 4-24 would always have a different zero and I just thought that was normal for the longest time.
I once thought i had a scope doing that, until i took the time to do the math on the always varying 15-35 mph cross winds we have every single day here. Its amazing how little wind it takes to be off 1" at 100 yards, and how that will play with elevation depending on wether it blows to or away from the direction of the rifling. Some days im over 10 feet of wind drift at 600 yards.

Did you answer forms questions?

You've been here less than a month and I feel like atleast half of your 243 posts have been trying to convince everyone there is no issue with Leupold, vortex or other scopes. Why are you wasting so much time trying to justify your use of them. Just do you, we dont care. Plenty of them out there new and used for you.

Can you post a link to that?

You had a guy calling you names? Can you link that post?

This one too if you can.

Must be buried somewhere in this post:

You lost me at 22 250 barrel life. I have one that will shoot sub 3" groups at 500 yards in 35 mph wind and that barrel is older than most people on here. Most of my rifles dont see 15 shots in any given year. Im too busy hunting and hiking around the mountains to go blow thousands of rounds at a range.

The Luepy hate is a thing. I have killed a pile of animals over the years. The interwebz might call me a liar. Whatever you buy, learn how to mount properly. Shoot it and test it. Then test it a little more. I will say this. There has NEVER been an optic brand that has NOT had some kind of failure. That is a fact. Buy what works for you and your price range. Go hunt and have fun!!

It was this exchange he is talking about
A lot of these guys think it takes a high bc long range competition cartridge to kill a deer at 60 yards. Most of them get confused when you talk about 30 30 or 243 or lever actions.
So you have zero advice for the OP, you only posted to throw shade at others. Maybe Rokslide isn't for you.
You sure took that out of context.

The idea someone with a different mindset should leave and stay quiet. You must be from russia.
You sure took that out of context. You gave one example of a cheap rifle and then proceed to cut down any other questions. Like the budget question which is a perfectly good question then made a silly comment about 30/30's or some such. Pretty funny you replied trying to poke fun and now playing the victim. Hard to tell if you're wanting to be helpful poke fun or play the victim card to be honest.

Only on here. I had a guy today calling me names and telling me to leave rokslide because i told someone a $450 glenfield model A is enough rifle for any mountain hunting.

Had a guy yesterday blow his lid because i said my pse brute that had split pse parallel limbs in 2009 still kills deer fine.
I've read reports on 3k scopes I've seen when asked guys would share findings but this doesn't seem to be spend a bunch of money or your gear is bad kinda place. Lots of guys have bone stock tikkas with fixed power swfa scopes. We used to buy those with rings and bubble level on BF for $250.

No one blew their mind on your recommendation. You should go back and reread what you post(all of it)and see if you notice a trend. You do give a recommendation but every time you do you also take a jab or two at others or make a negative comment about this site. That's why that gentleman told you this site might not be for you. No name calling and he didnt tell you to leave. Oh and it wasn't because of your recommendation but what follows your recommendations

Looking for a new or gently used lightweight 3-18x (only) scope. A few would be VX6 or Swaro. Thanks!
What rifle is this going on? What is the expected range/use? Do you want FFP with a scaled reticle, or more like a standard SFP duplex? Capped or exposed turrets?

I don’t want to bash your choices in scopes without first knowing how you plan on using it.

Depending on use case, Leupolds and Swaro’s can perform fine; but they would be pretty far down the list for my uses, which are not that extreme. I would say that they don’t do ‘what is printed on the tin’ as well as some other brands.

Great question. It’s going on a Christensen Ridgeline FFT in 308 for bear, mule deer and auodad. I’d probably be okay with a 3-15x.

For my money, the best 3-15x scope currently available is the SWFA one. It should be right around 22.5 ounces and $750.

From there, for me, it is a relatively large jump in price up to the Trijicon options. I covet the 4-16x AccuPoint, but haven’t used it. That’s about 25 ounces and $1050.

By bears, I assume you mean black bears?

Yeah, those have a 20 inch barrel, so guessing you are going to be shooting 400 yards and in. 18x is overkill unless you just like having that mag at the range to check your shots

This. I like my one and only Maven but bought it when they were sub 1k. The 3-15 swfa is a good scope. They have been known to do a tax day sale too if you're not in a big hurry for it.
