Looking for a lightweight pistol to carry for summer scouting and during archery in a non Grizzly area. Is a PPS a good choice? what is your opinion.

If you’re considering a 9mm check out the Glock 43 or 43x also. Both single stack and lightweight. I believe the PPS is a good gun from what I’ve seen but I don’t have enough experience with them to confirm that.

I carry a Glock 43 or 19 daily. Hard to beat them for reliability and simplicity.

PPS is a high quality smooth shooter. I would look for one of the first generation if the new style grip is disagreeable. They made it look cooler but did not improve it. PPS is still best in class either way.

I have one that I carry daily. It’s a nice little pistol. When I went from a Glock 27 to a single stack 9mm a few years ago, I chose it over the Glock 43 and shield because of the price, trigger, sights and 3 mags it came with.

I have a 43, and love it. However, I now have a 48 and would take it over the 43 on the trail. Longer sight radius and grip improve shootability, but it’s still a very slim, packable gun. The only advantage for the 43 is deep concealment.

I have a 43, bought it when it first came out. I figure i have about 3k maybe 3500 rounds through it, never a hitch. Fires everything, every time. I beat the hell out of it, pretty much my 8 month a year carry gun. I am thinking about cleaning it for the first time at some point.

I'm a big Glock fan but I bought a P365 last year and couldn't be more pleased with it. Can't really go wrong with a 43x but the P365 is a great little carry piece.

I have had them all and without question for me the sig p365 has been amazing. almost forget it is on my waist. shoots like a full size pistol.

Sure why not. Before I moved to AK, I wasn’t worried about grizzly bears, there were only black bears (unless you believe the tales about people spotting Mexican grizzlies). I used to carry a 9mm all the time or an sp101 357 mag.

a 9mm is a 9mm, but the one that fees best to you and carry it. I usually carried a Glock 17, now my CC pistol is a Glock 19, my woods pistol is either a Glock 20 or a redhawk 44.

I have a PPS M2 and really like it. I carry a duty issue Glock 19M or a 26 everyday for work so i end up only carrying the PPS off duty but i actually prefer it to my issued Glocks specifically because of the trigger and the sights. I am more accurate with the PPS than i am with my issued 26 i think mostly because of the sights. i don't have any experience with the 43. Both Glocks and Walthers are well built weapons. The biggest thing would be for you to try out the PPS and whatever other pistols you are thinking about and see what feels better for you. Pistols are a very personal thing and what feels good for one guy might not work great for someone else.
