I'm doing my first fly in moose hunt in northwestern BC Canada and I'm wanting to buy a lightweight pair of waders. What is everyone using

Simms are my favorite! I've used and abused them in Alaska and the lower 48.

I have both the G3 and the g4z. My current pair of G3 are old, going into their 6 season. Maybe 5th. The g3 would be my recommendation for hunting.

I know that but I see some companies have stockingfoot and some others don't list them as stocking foot

Most breathable fishing waders will have a stocking foot that you need to buy separate wading boots for. If it doesn't say stocking foot chances are, they still are. Which ones in particular are you looking at that you're unsure about?

If simms would make a G3Z with a bootfoot, I'd buy 5 pair just to have for the rest of my life. Closest I can get is that Sitka waders at the moment.

Speaking of which, get zippered waders. Taking a leak and getting them on and off is way easier. I also zip them down on long walks to breathe better if it's warm. You will definitely appreciate the zipper.

Most will likely recommend Simms. I will say the price difference between Simms and Redington is not an accurate reflection of quality and durability difference between the two. Unless I'm getting a good deal on Simms I lean to Redington.

Easy Question and no brainer - Simms if you can afford them. Others like Redington/Orvis are decent option option as well.

I run orvis but Simms look more bulletproof. All my friends who steelhead wear them and won’t change

Patagonia middleforks are pretty sweet. Weigh about 2 pounds and pack up smaller than a paper towel roll. Got them to use with my packraft but have been fishing in them all spring and so far so good.

Simms freestones have treated me well for the last year and a half. I use them duck hunting through the winter and took them to Kuiu for a bear hunt. Comfortable and durable and significantly cheaper than the Simms G3.

This is interesting. I've never owned Simms, but took a chance on a pair of used Redington's last year and they were great!

Simms g4 stocking foot w/simms lite weight boots. Was never uncomfortable wearing on a 12 day moose hunt. Often was unaware i was wearing them. Love the chest pocket pouches.

I accidentally cut them w/an axe on the last day of my trip. Upon return to civilzation, Simm's fixed them free, and then sent them back via 2nd day service even though I didn't request a rush.

I've only ever used the Sonic Pro's. Have used both the Sonic pro with zipper and without. Never had an issue with the zipper. But I don't really find it that much more convenient.
