As many are aware 1639 was passed here in Washington last year that brought unnecessary extra background checks on semi auto rifles and a host of other new regulations.

A petition is available for registered Washington voters to sign to repeal 1639. If we reach 300k signatures by late December, it will be on the ballot next November.

If you support the second amendment. Please head to your local gun store and ask them about the repeal 1639 petition (I-1094).

Any local members in whatcom county, I have the petition at Miracle pawn shop on the guide meridian in Bellingham. Also forget about Yeagers sporting goods, they are not supporting it.

Nothing like watching combat vets have to wait ten days to pick up a Ruger 10/22 after playing “mother may I” with the sheriff office.

Yeah, i also don't think the department of license needs to be making $18 for each semi auto rifles that is sold. Like they don't rape us enough when we register or transfer vehicle titles.

Good for you guys. If I still lived in Seattle I’d sign in a heartbeat. I got in an altercation with a paid signature gatherer on the ”exotic” animal import ban and she admitted whole heartedly that she didnt even care about the initiative and when I asked her what it was about, she pointed (literally) to plastic toys of tigers and lions sitting on her table and said, “saving these.”

these Initiatives are mob rule. It’s pathetic.

So you guys want it to go back to the general election for another vote? Absolute waste of time. I support this but time and money should be spent on a different avenue and not the general election. Get 300k people to donate to a lawsuit and get it in the court system or something along those lines. That's your only hope...

I think they are still working on the lawsuit, but doesn't look like its getting anywhere with our mostly liberal court system. Our state Attorney General is most likely doing something to prevent a lawsuit from happening, seeing that he went around the court system to have 1639 put back on ballot after a judge tossed it off.

Lawsuits don't seem to be working in other states that are fighting other anti-freedom laws.

Kind of off topic:

Is it fair that larger cities in state such as Washington, California, Colorado, etc get to have majority voting power over the whole state. Isn't there a reason we have the electoral college voting system for president, why not have a similar system for counties? Things that affect cities/urban areas are very different then rural areas, which make up a majority of the states.

Said the same thing for years. King county rules Washington, but the way people live in king county has nothing in common with those who live in Stevens county.

Would it repeal registration for semi autos? I was strongly considering moving to WA for work until they passed the last round of gun restrictions.

If repealed, it would keep the local LE and DOL from keeping records of semi-auto rifles. Currently the process or buying any semi-auto rifle is:

1. Must have your 1639 training certificate (this is a joke, as its available online for free and only takes 5 mins)

2. Background checks are sent to local LE and can take up to 2 weeks to get a response back (I've had them come back with 1-3 days in some rare cases depending on LE department)

3. Must bring a $18 money order payable to the department of licensing when you come to pickup your rifle, this is sent in to the DOL along with a copy of state form containing your personal info and firearm info.

1639 is a joke and needs to go, we need to show this state and this country that these jokes clearly only insult our 2nd amendment rights.

I am for common sense background checks, but this is clearly not common sense.

I 100% agree with you here. I live in Snohomish county, but work in King (DT Seattle), and even there the "vibe" is completely different. Needless to say, I've signed this petition, and will always support the 2nd.

I recently spent a week on Jury duty @ Snohomish Co Superior Court. I got pooled into two cases. 1st was a pool of 50 and 2nd was a pool of 125. Both cases involved guns so one of the first question asked was a show of hands of those who had guns at home. ~ 80% of the folks in both pools raised their hands. The shocked look on the few anti gun freaks was priceless.

So either gun owners voted against their interests or virtually every gun owner showed up for their summons while very few non gun owners showed up. Probably the latter as one group takes their civic duty seriously and the other expects others to do that for them. Which is fine with me just in case I ever find myself in front of a Jury of my peers for shooting a tweaker.

I’d prefer to see the courts strike down this law but that won’t happen so I’ll sign this once I see it.

I'll sign it when I see it as well, but i agree with MuleDeerMike. I don't think our crazy state will vote to repeal. Hopefully I'm wrong.
