Last weekend, my daughter and I made it up into the wilderness to do some scouting of an area I've been wanting to get into for the last 3 years but for one reason or another haven't. Scouted some great country, and have a real good idea of where and how I'm going to hunt it. I'm planning to make 2 or 3 more trips into the area before the September 15th opener, and will be able to be in there from Sept. 12 - 21, which ought to give me plenty of time to find quality bucks for my son and I.

A few pics

That green ridge and the valley on the other side is where I'm expecting the deer to be.

Beautiful pics... We have some of the prettiest alpine areas of any state if you ask me! Look for those patches of dark timber that break suddenly into open alpine. That's where the bucks will be come Sept 15th man!

I made a trip through that area. Seen a little buck by one of the lakes. Also seen some elk tracks. Good luck

I would counsel you to be extremely cautious about the pictures you post online, particularly in this state in High Hunt areas.

Is it a neat area that is likely to hold deer? Yes. Does it get hunting pressure? Absolutely.

That said, I wish you luck and hope you have a great hunt!

X2. Actually I recognize a few landmarks just from google earth but I've only been about 1.5 miles from there. Beautiful pics and don't worry, not like you're posting an area that isn't a bit known. Some definite pressure in there!
