Curious if anyone has tried in a 7prc? Or even the 6.5.

I'd assume it has a similar burn rate to that of H4831sc and I know there are people having success with that powder in the 7 prc.

Currently building a 25-7PRC and contemplating if I should try some N555. I currently have alot on hand as I use it for a couple 25 creedmoor loads.
N555 uses alot of case capacity, so with the much larger 7 prc parent case on the 25-7, I thought it sounded like a good possible candidate.

Ofcourse this is all subjective, as each barrel and chamber have there own personality. It could be that the 25-7PRC will like the super slow burn, for which I do have 4 pounds of retumbo on hand.

I think it would be pretty fast for a 25-7prc. I haven’t loaded for one or don’t even know anybody with one but I would guess your more in the Retumbo, StaBall HD, N570 burn rate.

I ran it through the p-max software and I dont think its a viable powder for the 7 prc case. The case is too long. Load density would be in the 85 percent range with sub par velocity. The burn rate isn't right.

Now for the 6.5 prc case it might work out all right.

V V claims that n555 is comparable to H4350/RL16 in burn rate. I have a jug I picked up with the intent to use in my Creedmoor family of rifles when I'm out of H4350. I think it would be too fast burning for my 6.5prc.

Max charge weights seem to be closer to H4831 than H4350.

N560 is the best powder I’ve found for the 6.5 PRC, I briefly tried N555 but didn’t get the same speeds as N560.

I settled on N555 for my 6.5x55 after starting with H4350. It burns a bit slower, and provides a better case fill. Think @ +1.5 to 2 grains for roughly the same pressures as H4350.

What 555 charge did you settle on for your 6.5 x 55? How does it shoot?

I stopped at 46.3 gr which runs a bit over 2850 fps with a 140 gr Sierra MK. QuickLoad estimates pressure at 59000 psi. I could definitely lean on it quite a bit more but the SD's are single digits and the groups are tiny and consistent with no flyers. Can't complain. This isn't a hunting load. I'm still working on dialing in a 127 gr LRX.

Thank you! This helps a ton and it is directionally with what I want to try out: 46.5-47g of 555 with a 135g drt. VV 6.5 x 55 skan data has max at 47.7g for a 136g scenar.
