Looking to take the family to Voyagers NP in 2024 or 2025.

Have started looking at some of the cabins/lodges but am looking for recommendations and advice. Family of 5, with kids that will be 14, 10, 6 next year.

We will definitely do some fishing but our trip is not a "fishing trip". It's a trip family trip to see the park and get some relaxing in, along with catching some fish!

So if you have any advice or must see things in the park or the area I'd love to hear them. Also if you have a place you'd recommend to stay let me know!

Thanks,

Canoe country is a wonderful place, first bit of advice is schedule your trip the end of July/first half of August..
If you hit the bugs wrong your family will hate you. Our high today was a cool 64 with a nice breeze.

Kettle Falls hotel is a fun visit. Decent food, lots of space to walk around, old historic building.

Lakes up there are known for walleye, but some of them have world class smallmouth too. Kabetogama in particular.

If you are up for a hike, Echo Bay trail is a good short one. Cruiser Lake is a good longer one and you probably won't see another person.

Kettle Falls is worth a trip if the water is nice and calm. Ellsworth Rock Garden on Kab a lot of people picnic there. You can also picnic at any of the campsites as long as no one is there, plan on doing some shore lunches thats what we look forward to. Fishing is what most people go there for. Its really not like other NP's. Boating can be a little challenging up there, make sure you stay on the US side especially when fishing. Theres no border line out there on the water. And its all rock under the water and on the shore. Know that all that water in the whole system flows to Kettles Falls, so if you are heading away from the falls, you want the Red bouys on your right "Red Right Return" and the left if you are heading with the current or towards KF. If there is a Green and a Red go between them, the white buoys with the diamond are dangerous rocks, give them plenty of room.

Reserve an island campsite and stay out on the lake for a couple nights if you wanna fish....are you dead set on Voyageurs or are you looking at BWCA too?...lots of outfitters run canoe trips outta Ely if you wanna do BWCA.....not sure where you are coming from, but if coming from South or East of region then hit the North Shore of Lake Superior on your drive
