Ive seen a few people get super excited about this. Am I missing something? Other than the MOA guys not having an excuse to go to mils so they can zero smaller, I dont get it.

The only thing that seems different is the ability to micro zero between clicks. Never really had an issue with that before but okay.

Looks like a MSRP of $4199 and retail on euro optic of $2800. 32oz and a FOV of 5' at max zoom. Nx8 2.5x20 has better stats, can take a beating, and is a whopping $1k cheaper or more.

Yeah I don’t buy it for $2800. Used market around 2k it might be a solid piece to pick up and try. Could be a great LR hunting optic that rivals the 4-16 ATACR and 4-32 NX8. I think they really dropped the ball by not marketing this one to be more competitive price wise with those 2 markets above.

Well its Vortex so... so the micro adjustments probably don't even work.. I would also like to see the rifle that is so accurate its cone is less than a quarter moa.... then meet the guy (im sure there will be plenty in the comments after this) that can shoot the difference of a quarter moa....

It’s a Gen 3 Razor that doesn’t weigh as much as a boat anchor and fits between the niche of the 1-10 and the 6-36. Optically it is supposed to be better than the NX8 which does have some limitations due to the 8x erector. I’ve been shooting the 2.5-20x NX8 since 2019 and remember people trashing the glass on the 2.5-20x and bitching about how dark the 4-32 was past 20x when they were released.

The price is $850 more but if you don’t need it now you’ll be able to find plenty of places that knock off between 10-15% like pretty much every other Vortex.

I already have a pair of NX8’s and not the money to spend on nice optics this year but if I didn’t I would be taking a better look at it as it looks like a great scope.

$200 MSRP.

GTFO!

It’s been their marketing strategy since forever, not sure if it’s so retailers can put up the MSRP with an extra low “Sales Price” like Midway does or some other marketing reason.

I had a Gen 2 3-18 razor a few years back, pretty sure the micro zero was a thing then. It was basically a clickless turret inside of the other turret that was secured with set screws. Maybe they changed the design on this one.

Optically it was super impressive, but it was like 46 ounces (iirc) so it went down the road. I never lost zero with it, but I babied that rifle so it really didn’t even get set down hard, much less dropped. I guess it’s cool they shaved so much weight off this.

I’m sure Vortex will sell a bunch of these to competition type shooters. Optically I’m sure it’s alpha-level glass. If it passes the drop eval (and I kinda doubt it will) then I would guess guys here would be willing to drop the cash on one. Otherwise it’ll probably be just like the other razors; really optically impressive if you’re gentle to them.
