We were able to get new Vortex Talon 10k out in the field and try them out at one of our shooting spots here in the desert. I think people might be surprised with these and the display options on these are actually really convenient!

Has anyone else had a chance to get their hands on these and check em out yet?

Anytime I see a review for optics, I scan through to see if there is any digiscope footage in the video.

If the whole video is just a talking head, I don’t watch because I think it’s a waste of time.

Digiscope is obviously not a 100% accurate representation of how the optic will look in person, but it’s way more interesting than just hearing about it.

We can’t hear glass quality.

I absolutely get that Alex and I think its a great point. I know its something we can talk about in the future and wait til we have the digiscope set up for the optic. Its always nice to see that and at least see the reticle with your own eyes. I will say I was pretty impressed with the glass quality and the display is pretty awesome. I wish some of the premium glass optics would adopt these displays in some of the vortex and sigs.

How do you think they compare to the sig kilo 10k?
I really do think the glass quality is a touch better. The sigs have a really user friendly display that I like but I thought there might be a little bit more color tint in the glass compared to these. I really do like both of the displays but the vortex has great solutions and the wind input takes them over the top of the sig 10k IMO.

Any thoughts on how the glass compares to the Revic BLR10b gen 1?
I’m thinking to switch it up & the pairing of the ace looks handy for NRL hunter. Just wondering how they’d work for fining targets.

I would say the glass is an upgrade for sure. Not as much tinting and a little better on the edges. With that upgrade and the display having similar type options I would say this would be an excellent upgrade from those BLR10 gen 2 in my opinion. Especially for NRL use case!

Hope the hype is worth it. Upgrading from the Fury 5000's, which served me well, but every review and stat is saying these should be way better.

I have the 12s and really like them so far. I upgraded from some non-ballistic solving fury 5000s. The ranging/solving is slightly slower, But that’s to be expected. The glass is worlds better, and the display is great and super customizable. I have mine pretty stripped down to avoid clutter at the moment. I am very happy with the upgrade overall. I don’t have a lot of experience with alpha level glass, so take that for what it’s worth but I was surprised at the clarity and edge to edge in these. Only real complaint I have is the weight, especially with the 12s. But to me it’s worth it for everything they give me in the field.

I have gone back and forth between the 10’s and the 12’s. I still am not 100% sure which way I’ll go. I’m heading to Colorado 1st rifle for elk this year so they will get tested. I also do not own any alpha glass and would be coming from a 10x42 set of Nikons from like 2016 so the upgrade in glass alone would be night and difference to me. I am interested in the ballistics and rangefinder so I can eliminate some extra gear
