Would like to get a higher powered scope for my 300wsm for longer range mule deer/elk hunts. Looking at scopes with magnification in the 5-25 range. Any thoughts on the following: Viper HST, PST, Rage (scheels exclusive).

I use the Viper HSLR 6-24x50 FFP on my 300 WSM. It has been a great scope. I have not had any problems with return to zero.

5-25 is cool at the range but wholley unnecessary for hunting. I have found that the upper end of magnification is unusable for most of my hunting scenarios.

The upper end Vortex are really good. For the money, the Trike Eagle 5-25x FFP is a solid choice.

Consider the Vortex LHT. For a little more than $1K, you would have a scope that would take you past 1K on steel and take any NA Big Game at extended ranges.

Razor hd lht has very crisp and clear glass, very light weight, locking turret, covered windage, solid reticle with illuminated center dot. Does very well at low light. I have the mil 42mm version on my lightweight 300wsm. Would feel very comfortable shooting at game a long ways out with it.

Another great option is the trijicon credo hx 2.5 15x42. It's Japanese glass, 100moa elevation, very nice sfp moa center dot reticle and is pretty light weight too.

I bought the older Razor LH just before they released the 3 oz heavier LHT. Awesome glass and the 3-15 mag range is great for just about anything other than shooting extreme ranges. That said, I also have the gen 1 Viper PST 6-24 FFP. Also an awesome scope and I can hit at 1000 yards with it very easily.

The Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 has peaked my interest with its locking turrets.....
