How's it going, I am looking for a scope for my new Savage 110 Ultralite 7prc. I had originally bought a Viper PST Gen2 and while I like the glass. I decided on replacing it for something with locking turrets and capped windage. Anyone have any likes or dislike between these two. I know one is FFP and one is SFP that doesnt really matter to me. I am just looking for something that will work well from 100-500yds in varying environments. I don't need it to be perfect in any particular environment. I appreciate the feedback, I am not going to lie with all the selections it can be a bit overwhelming.

I have 2 of each. If 500 is your max, I would go 3-15.

The field of view on 3 is notably easier for finding animals in brush and I’m not a huge fan of 22 power from most field positions so it only really applies if I can get prone.

One area that the 22power can be really useful is something like a Doe (not antlerless) Antelope tag where you need to verify the facial colors in a herd while animals are constantly moving.

For your reading pleasure.

Do you need a locking elevation turret or would you be okay if it was just a zero stop?

Reason I ask is because you could get a SWFA 3-15 Gen 2 that has a capped windage and has a zero stop. Has a better reputation for durability for a few ounces of weight penalty.

Could also do the Maven 1.2 (2.5-15 ffp), it has a similar capped windage and zero stop. Also much more likely to retain zero in the field.

I could shoot further just wouldn't see myself doing so anytime soon. I just would be annoyed if the opportunity presented itself to hunt something further and I needed to get a new scope to do so. Would you see any significant drawback in purchasing either since you have two of each?
