Vortex Rangefinding bino - coming summer 2017

Vortex is releasing a range finding bino in 10x42 called the Fury. No real specs other then 1600 yard ranging but looks like it is part of the viper line in styling but who knows. Didn't see a pricing detail.

I've been hoping for this for a couple years.

My guess is, it's the "Razor" glass and the styling had to be the way it is to house the electronics. I'd like to see a side-view, but from the little you can tell this looks to be pretty dang nice in that category.

My guess on price...$1,550-$1,800.

I will be using a set of these next Fall for sure!

Maybe Aron will hop on and let us know some more details. This has to be the Vortex product they were talking about "testing" awhile back on Gritty Bowmen.

dang was going to spring for the sig kilo, now might have to wait to see what the price point on these are. Would be nice not to have to carry bino's and a separate rangefinder.... but im not going to spend $2000 + on a pair...

The problem with RF binoculars in my experience is you give up light transmission and optical quality in exchange for having a built in RF.

Even the Leica and Swaro versions?

None of the range finding binoculars are as good optically as their non rangefinding counterparts. The degree of deviation is smaller in the euros, but still noticible.

I'll be interested to get a pair in my hands.

Just going by pictures it looks like they put the extra space for the electronics in a good spot, looks like your hands should wrap around it no problem.

I was hoping for Razor glass myself, how can you tell for sure it's the Viper?

Another issue for rangefinding binoculars is you have to put a display element (screen) in the optical system, which affects brightness (and resolution to a small degree).

Leica HD-B are a little bit of genius really. They have additional element(s) for the display, but have less optical elements in the system to begin with, given the use of a Porro prism. So you end up with a nice bright image anyway.

The look like an interesting option, given the price is much lower than the current Euro models.

I'll be the first to admit I often have a hard time making a big difference between my Razor and my buddy Viper and almost wonder if I made a mistake and coulda saved half my money....that said, I'll likely give these a try.

Not true for the Leica Geovid HD-B binoculars. I bought a pair recently. Compared them side by side with my Swarovski EL Swarovision 10x50 binoculars in a wide range of lighting conditions. Optical quality was every bit as good.

They don't have the same edge to edge clarity, light transmission, or color definition, or CA control imho.
