Hi all,

I’m contemplating getting an LHT 3-15 for a lightweight .308 build. I’ve got my eyes on either the x42 or the x50 but was wondering if anyone has had both to compare?

Other than being able to mount the x42 slightly lower, I don’t think there’ll be much in it (less reticle options).

The HSR reticle looks slightly more useable than the G4i to me but if anyone has used both I’d appreciate some input!

It’ll be shortish range shooting, no more than 450yds I’d say.

Also, if I should be considering anything else please let me know!

Thanks,

Dr. S

Solid guts. More reliable tracking, RTZ and zero retention. Had an LHT shit the bed on a hunt, wasn’t super pleased

Cheers! Perhaps telling that there don’t seem to be many Credos/Tenmiles for sale in the Classifieds, but there are a few LHTs (from what I’ve seen, anyway)…

Been eyeing up a Trijicon Credo 4-16x50 on sale at eurooptics, wondering why they are on clearance, may have to add one the the cart.

I know this is an older thread, but the Vortex LHTs are at a great price. I ordered a 4.5-22 FFP mil/mil for a tactical/hunting rig. Now I'm thinking about the 3-15x50 SFP mil for a Tikka carbon/carbon lightweight hunting rifle I'm putting together.

At 1/2 the price, I'm looking at the Viper HD 3-15 sfp and a couple Athlon scopes that are also in the $600ish price range, but I LOVE the reticle on the LHT vs these.

Any advice from someone with experience in these?

Vortex gets nothing but hate on here, but few take accountability for their role in the issues… makes sure the mounting system you choose is adequate and true, do not over tighten the rings, I recommend the Seekins precision mounts. If going the 3-15 route, the 42 imo is the better choice. I have a couple of both with great luck. I’ve warrantied a couple of vipers, knowing 2 of the 3 were for sure my fault.

The 3-15 LHT was one of my favorite lightweight backpack hunting scopes until I had a couple of them lose zero with no abuse. All were quickly sold
