This High Country tripod has the panhead from the Vortex Summit SS-P. However, I removed the extended center post to minimize weight and have since lost it. Therefore, maximum extended height is now 46.5" rather than 53.8" as original. The carry bag has some wear as the tripod has been stored in the bag when backpacking.

mtnclimber,

sorry I cant answer your question for future reference.....I don't have a scale. The original with ball head was 2.1 and the SS-P was 2.0. I would say the panhead is neglibably lighter than the ball but can't say for sure.

I will say the vortex panhead is a nice upgrade to the high country. I now run a Manfrotto 700 RC2 on the SS.
