Why did they need to be sent in to vortex? They are refurbished?

I was having trouble with an eyepiece working perfect (nothing of major note) and they did something to make it 100%. They also detail cleaned them and checked any and everything / gave them a clean bill of health. They were purchased new/ not refurbished.
