Vortex Fury 5000 vs Sig Kilo3000 BDX

Has anyone done a comparison between these two in the field? How do they compare in ranging ability, glass, etc? I've seen them in Cabelas, that's all. Thanks.

I’ve never used the Sig, so for what it’s worth I can tell you the fury is a great LRF. I’m able to range nearly anything within 2200 yds, trees to 3800 yds and the other day I hit a water tower at 4882 yds.

Never used the Sig either, but the Fury is definitely an awesome LRF. Can't imagine needing to range anything farther than they are capable of.

It’s not as good as 12x50 razors but it’s adequate for the job of ranging at long distance. I compared the fury side by side with the Swaro EL Range, the Swaro glass was much better but no contest in ranging, the fury was much faster and hit targets the Swaro couldn’t range.

I have looked through both and went with the sig. one of my buddies has the sigs and has ranged coyotes out to 1000 over snow which is difficult for a lot of rangefinders. So far I like the sigs but time will tell.

I HATE Vortex, but the Fury 5000 is really really good. The ranging is incredible. Really fast, no matter the distance. It gives you the ability to plan stalks from 2+ miles, which is very helpful.

I didn't get the chance to put them on a tripod to really judge glass quality. I will say I was surprised at how clear they were handheld. They are somewhere near Razor glass, but I would need to look at each side by side to determine how close.

Overall, I would recommend trying them out at least.

I know this site isn't vortex friendly, but they're one of the few places that warranty the electronics for life. Can't speak for alpha glass, but most other places only do it for 5 yrs. I've had the fury 5000's for 2-3 yrs and echo what the other guys have said, the rf is spectacular and glass is great for what I do. I've had a standard sig kilo 2000 when it first came out and took it back when it couldn't range a water tower at 600 yds.

Used my Fury AB's on a 9 day whitetail hunt that consisted of open to semi-open country, down to low visibility creek bottoms. I was surprised how well they performed optically, as they got me to legal shooting light easily, and could identify and count points even in the creekbottoms at that time. I lasered hills, rocks, tanks out to 3800 yds, and it ranged deer, bushes, etc easily out past 1000 and never missed a reading. I was skeptical going into the hunt, but came away very well pleased. I also had my swaro SLC's which are quite a bit better optically, obviously.

The ranging ability on the sig is faster and the Applied Ballistics technology is very functional. It is really a big rangefinder that is easy to get steady. Glass quality is very poor and diopters are constantly loose.

Vortex fury has a decent rangefinder and ok glass. It is more like binos with RF capability. The Fury HD with AB is very slick all in one. My eyes just got tired with whatever the lens coatings used do.

Between the two FURY HD would still be my pick every time even with losing ballistic solution.

I dove down this rabbit hole last year and wound up with the Sig. The Vortex has different tints in the lenses to accommodate the laser, bringing me back to when I was a kid looking at books with "3D glasses." One had a very obvious yellow tint and the other was very blue. The sig was just blue. Sig has the same, lifetime warranty, was the same price and obviously built in the same place, the biggest deciding factor was the lense coatings seemed to present a better image to eyes. If you're a longrange shooter you might consider the 10Ks which have their own built in ballistics computer and weather station.

You're sadly mistaken on the Sig warranty. The electronics are warranted for 5 years from the date of manufacture, which is total BS. I'm haggling with them as we speak about this matter regarding my 2200BDX. I've had them a little over 2 years now, and they claim they're out of warranty due to date of manufacture. It's a misleading crock of crap IMO.
