I am looking closely at picking up a ballistic unit soon and was debating to go with the tried-and-true Kestrel or the new Vortex ACE. In researching the ACE, I couldn't seem to find anything I would deem to be unbiased and did not much activity in the forums here. I wanted to see if anyone here has spent time with the ACE and has gotten some solid behind-the-gun time with it yet.

On paper, it looks pretty compelling - the price point and interface appear to be major selling points compared to the Kestrel. But again, Kestrel has proven itself and has a long-standing history.

I would love to hear people's feedback on the ACE regarding accuracy and durability of the unit and how it might stack up to the Kestrel.

Ive got the ace and the talon hd binos. Ive been impressed with them and with the geoballistics solver. I had a kestrel before and never really learned how to use it all the way but I feel like the ace is a little more intuitive to use. Startup is very quick on the ace. Screen is great and battery life has been good for me so far. Only warm weather use though. I like the way the units link to eachother and the app. The solutions it spits out have been great so far. The size is larger then a kestrel and feels heavier as well. Im glad I chose it and the binos.

A fellow Kentuckian it seems! Thanks for sharing that. I am looking to upgrade RF binos as well and thought the Talon and Ace would pair well together as they are meant to be used together. Just seemed a little more user friendly than the Kestrel but I don’t have much time behind the Kestrel. My Vortex experience has been somewhat hit or miss though (glad they have their warranty as I have had to use it a couple of times).
