Does anyone get Achilles pain after hiking in these for a while? I've worn barefoot shoes for about a year but just really started hiking and hunting in them. I try to stretch my calves, but it doesn't seem to help.

How long have you been wearing a shoe with no support?

Took me a long time to break in my body to barefoot shoes. Really gets amplified if you’re carrying any weight.

The shoe collars also take some to break in, that’s about the only thing that I needed to break in on the vivo

Your best bet to resolve what you are describing is to start doing a set or more of about 50 calf raises per day while standing with your toes on piece of lumber or on a stair step. Wearing stiff boots with lots of ankle support makes your ankles, calves, and feet weak. It takes time and exercise to get that strength back.

I still remember the day I did my first calf raises at the gym on the calf raise machine over 40 years ago. I couldn't walk for a week after :ROFLMAO:

Sent back 2 different pairs for delam'ing on me. sucks. wanted to love the boot. Stepping into a lapponia feels like a cast after these things.

Those look good but spendy. Is there a benefit of the new design, or is it cosmetic? I’d love a pair that don’t need to be laced. I’m lazy.
To my eye, this construction's main benefit is the lack of add-on/plastic pieces. I'd be curious to know if that upwards-facing/exposed stitching would create any water ingress issues.

Pretty sure @Formidilosus will have some thoughts on this construction ... but also have a sneaking suspicion that his closet-love for old-school Luddite tech and fuddy aesthetics might win out over his practical assessment ... 😘

I developed a similar pain, and I had over 80 miles on mine when this started. What I determined the cause was me overtightening the collar and putting a lot of constriction on my Achilles. Once I reduced the tightness, the pain started going away, and after about a week, it was completely gone.

Just got back from a WY elk hunt using the trackers for the first time on an extended hunt. No issues at all with side hilling, climbing, and coming down mountains. I had one stitch come loose on the toe, but no leaking or pulling apart yet. Only minor complaints are my feet got cold FAST if I wasn't hiking. I may need to look into the vivo thermal insoles and/or some insolated booties for glassing. Also one of the days we hiked in a lot of snow and they wetted out within an hour. Does adding the painted rand that I've seen in previous posts help with this? I didn't have a pair of waterproof socks with me, so probably need to buy a pair of those for days I know that will have heavy rain/snow. Otherwise my feet were way happier in these compared to my Crispi's.

The Rand didn’t work for me but also my boots are on their 3rd season. I think I’m just going to try that new version that is supposed to be waterproof (ish). Waterproof socks work well in the meantime.
