Video Editing Tips

A buddy has bunch of videos that he would like to put together but has never messed with the editing or compiling software. What programs are you guys using and have any tips to make it easier to get started.

Not to hi jack but if anyone knows of a way to do basic edits and cuts in Vimeo let me know and it may help bbrown.

It would definitely help... I have heard of I movie but don't run a Mac

Pending file format, a very basic basic way of editing can be done in QuickTime pro. It's pretty much cut what section you want, and paste it into a timeline. That is about it, no ability to add sounds/music/text etc.

I movie is pretty easy but yes, requires a mac.

For a PC, it seems that Microsoft movie maker is one of the most friendly ways of doing it, supposedly free as well!
