Victory RIP TKO vs Black Eagle Rampage questions

Another consideration is cost. For .001 straightness the Rampage is $11.33. The RIP TKO is $17.50. Prices are off of Lancaster Archery Supply's website.

For me personally to justify that cost difference, the victory arrow needs to be much more durable and/or come with a homing beacon in the event I launch one into the nether while testing my effective range.

If you can't tell by the flurry of my responses, my OCD isn't letting this one go.

Went over my pile of destroyed Rampages. There are 13 shafts in total that have been destroyed.

One was due to a robin hood. The frontend looks fine. Before anyone thinks I'm a good shot, I 100% remember this being a weird fluke.

That leaves 12 shafts. I would say six (50%) have hairline fractures and probably would of been saved by a better component system (I'm looking hard at the Victory system) or a more durable arrow (let's say the RIP TKO for argument's sake).

Of the remaining 6, I would say two might of been saved with a better frontend and/or more durable arrow. The cracks are pretty bad and run 4-6'' down the shaft.

That leaves four arrows that are totally blown up. I don't recall what exactly caused this. I would be pleasantly surprised if an arrow survived whatever caused this since these shafts look gnarly.

So that's eight shafts ($90 or so) that I honestly think could of been saved by a different arrow and/or component system.

I think this math is something I can show the CFO/wife to prove the cost savings of a better component system or more durable arrow. I'm now considering the RIP TKO, or the Rampage with either the FOCOS system or the Victory SHOK system.

The Iron Will collars work great and their new stainless inserts can be taken back out of a damaged shaft either using the drill bit trick or heat if the shaft is junk anyway.

As far as durability the TKO’s are the most durable arrow I’ve shot. I haven’t shot any other weave style arrows but I have punished the TKO’s. I’m also using IW inserts. I hit a huge granite rock that my target was sitting on a couple years ago and it broke the field tip off and split the IW collar, the shaft came out unharmed even though the 75gr HIT actually slightly bent inside of the shaft. The arrow still shot fine with a field tip and I used it as a practice arrow, I used it in a steel plate shoot and missed the spot and hit a steel target at 40 yards and finally finished it off.

What length do you think they're salvagable? If they can be cut to 28.5'' I'll take a couple

I don't like the victory outserts. I'm not really a fan of outserts at all anyway. I removed all of the standard BE half outs and put in Easton HIT's and the Ethics Archery footers, then threw on GT unibushings and G-nocks on my rampages. I think these will be damn near indestructible. I have not shot the RIP TKO's, I was tempted to buy a dozen, but like you said, the cost is almost double. And I have not had a single issue with my rampages blowing up. Maybe you got a shit batch or I am just not as hard on my arrows as I thought.

Here are what I made. I think for the cost, I am getting close to $17/shaft with everything added. Which is about what the RIP TKO's are for a bare shaft. But unless I completely lose an arrow, I can usually salvage something off of to reuse.

This is the write up I needed. Thanks. Looks like you were able to re-create the IW concept minus the price tag. Also, your bareshaft tuning picture is what I've come to expect from BE. They are extremely consistent shafts that fly great for me. For the cost, I don't think they can be beat.

My arrows are 29.25'' carbon to carbon. I think you would need to hack off 2-3'' even in the hairline fracture case to be safe. My plan for the busted shafts is to hack off 6-7'' just to have some arrows for the kids the play with.

Yeah I don't feel like purposely filling my hand with carbon, which is why I think I am going to be giving my RIP XV's away to a buddy with a shorter draw. I pay cost on the arrows, $40ish for the ethics, $23 for the nocks and unibushings, $6 for the wraps and about $9 to fletch em. Comes out to $15.50/shaft actually. Little more work, but I feel like you get a much more durable shaft.

Sort of on topic but I’m in the midst of an arrow adventure myself. I shoot axis 300’s with 150g point/insert, wrap, 4 fletch, and light no is which gets me to 530g and 260fps. While the axis arrows have been great and durable for me, have put a few through some 2x4’s and a rubber stall mat 😳, but I want something a fuzz lighter gpi. In comes the RIP TKO’s, BE Rampages, and even the VAP TKO or BE x impacts (.166). I’ve already settled that I will shoot the Ethics Archery post and sleeve system and will have a total front weight of 200-210. I think with a system like this I feel comfortable shooting something a little lighter like the BE arrows and find it hard to justify the Victory price tag. Soooo...... I still don’t know what I’m gonna do. Might build 3 of each and shoot all summer and see what comes of it in terms of durability, and consistency. Someone should just do this for me and tell me what to do...... Thanks

Ignore the victory's unless you get a good deal. Ignore the .166 unless you want to restock your entire archery box with special components and tips/heads. Don't use the post sleeve, use a HIT and collar.

I have read so many people talking about the Black Eagle Rampage and how consistent they are, so went and ordered a dozen 350 spins in .001.

They came in last night, I was all excited to put them on the RAM spine tester and also check straightness. Maybe I received a bad batch of arrows but it a huge disappointment.

>Two arrows are so bad that Ray Charles can see the wobble.

>Three of the arrows I have to cut about three inches off the front to make them .001 straightness.

>Four of the arrows I have to cut some from the front and back to make them .001

>Three of the arrow a absolutely perfect (what you would expect).

Like I said major disappointment, not sure if I will be ordering Black Eagle Rampage again

I will stay with the Victory RIP Elites or the Easton Hexx

BEA components and shafts are great, but won’t be as durable as what you are used to with GT. Lots of people like the Victory arrows. I will never use them. My buddy got two batches sent to him and all they did was break every time they hit something. I couldn’t believe it. He broke every arrow he shot - grouse, elk, whatever. Several broke in the target too. Crazy.

That's surprising and not what I would consider normal. Where did you order them from? I have never noticed much runout within a batch. Always pretty spine consistent and straight.

I would contact BE directly and speak to them. I am drawing a blank on name right now but I have frequently spoken to the owner on the phone, just because he picked up the phone.

^^^^ agree with this - abnormal. I only shoot BE Rampages and Carnivores and have never had a problem with straightness. I'm at the point of only buying the .003's as they are better than spec'd.
Also, BE customer service is excellent.

I ordered them from a “newer” small archery shop that is trying to get his pro shop up and running. I will contact Black Eagle on Monday. I have never posted a video before but I can try this weekend.

I'd be curious to hear what they say. They are normally sorted. Something doesn't sound right about your experience. I haven't had issues anything like what you are describing, but I'm not doubting that you are experiencing it either.

CS from Black Eagle has always been good for me.

I’m following thread. Been shooting BE Rampages 350 .003 with factory vanes and SS half outs. Are the the half outs what makes them wobble so bad? Sould be the right spline.
