Those who shoot or have experience with the newer Victory HLR shafts, why did you/do you choose it over similar shafts like the new Easton 5.0, Gold Tip Airstrike, or other?

Considering trying some new arrows. Leaning Easton 5.0 for cost/quality, but never shot Victory and curious. Currently shooting Gold Tip Airstrike 300's out of my V3X 29 at 75# & 27" DL.

As a huge fan of the RIP TKOs, I would probably switch to the HLRs if I didn't already have 3 dozen of the RIP TKOs. The carbon weave on the outside makes for quite a durable shaft, plus with the lighter GPI you can get a decent weight with good FOC.

It will be interesting to see how they compare to the Easton 5.0s for long term use.

I have heard of some issued with the 5.0's but overall they seem to be pretty good. Obviously if durability is your concern the 5.0 is gonna be a lot less durable than the HLR. I have shot eastons but just built some new VAP TKO's for myself. And I will say so far I am really liking victory arrows. If it was me I would go HLR. I'm also curious if you've thought of going 4mm route? 5mm are really nice to though.

I may give the HLRs a whirl. I have a line on two dozen for $220 shipped. I've seen some reviews, mainly good. Any thoughts? At that price seems like I should take the plunge.

I went with some HLRs. I love the rip tko and needed some new arrows so it made sense to go with the HLR. I also have never had any QC issues with victory arrows. The last dozen I just build had a 0.8 grain range between them. That’s about as good as it gets

Been shooting the 5.0 since it launched with zero issues. Only broken arrows were 100% my fault. Today I had a target on a sideways pallet in front of the roll off at my business. Dropped my bow arm right at the break and sent an arrow through two layers of 1x4 boards and slammed into the steel roll off. No damage except a blunted field tip.

Plus they are made in America.

I’m considering the HLR but wondering if I will have too much FOC to get to my desired total arrow weight. I could add wraps/lighted knocks but typically I don’t worry about that.

Having issues with durability of my HLR .250. The slightest impact and they snap the half outs right off. Never had and issue like this before with a half out on a shaft. Other than that, they fly pretty nice.

I have literally right around 1000 shots with mine. 225gr total tip weight (23% FOC) in a 455gr TAW. My arrows routinely are slapping together in the target, and other than busting some occasional nocks, I haven't experienced any issues with my HLR's.

Too much FOC will be dependent on your vane choice. Too much vane with a longer lever will over-correct. I don't get caught up in the numbers, I just find what works right. At present, with the HLR's I'm at 23%. I started right around 18% and added back weights until I ended up with what was most consistent with broadheads and field tips while broad head tuning. I use 2.25" TAC Vanes. Stiff, thin and light, and have a height around 0.43" if I remember correctly. Some of the other popular hunting vanes are a little taller and might cause some of the over-correction that can occur when FOC gets on the higher side.
