I use the first lite springer vest during the early season as a layering option just before I have to throw on the puffy, which I will still wear the vest under. The vest has quite a bit of versatility for me if I layer it properly. Some guys are just warm blooded and don't really have a use for them. In the late season I'll switch to the first lite puffy vest. I don't mind either and I didn't find them that noisy.

I really don't know. I'm new to the "technical" type clothing. I'm 6' 2" about 220 and have the XL if that helps at all.
