Vertical molle use?

I have a few bags with a single length of webbing creating a vertical molle pattern up each side of the bag.

Does anyone know what these lengths of molle are designed to be used for?

Maybe. The only pouch Ive seen with horizontal pals are the old eagle TQ holders.

To be clear I'm talking about a single length of webbing running vertically, so the molle is actually wove horizontally vs the standard horizontal sewn, vertical wove.

Its called a daisy chain. Well known as an easy feature to add and advertise, mostly a gimmick nobody uses. There on pretty much every granola type pack out there.
But if you want to carabiner some stuff on there and let it dangle around thats about the use they have.

Used them for wet gear, mostly up the center-back, but with a short length of bungie you can run vertical things (tripods, hiking sticks, whatever) if on the sides.

Also used them for wet crampon bags (drip drip drip) and for lashing snowshoes with.

If you have on both sides, you can can get a length of elastic cordage at a sewing store and a cross it up across the back to make a spider web pouch.

Wouldn't say they're useless by any means, but they do allow for some creativity.
