I ran across a video on YouTube that grabbed my attention, I think it was for the IfiRay vehicle mounted IR scanner. I’d provide a link to the video but I can’t find the first one I found. I remember that hit was a dome shaped thermal device that runs 360 degrees, attaches to the roof of a truck or side by side or whatever and links to a tablet for visuals- I’m considering getting one.
Today I ran across a similar device, it’s Nocpix M6T25S, appears to be made in Australia and also looks identical or nearly identical to the IfiRay product.
I’m having a very difficult time finding where one might buy the Nocpix unit and my guess is they probably whitelisted the product to IfiRay- could be worldwide, but might just be the US market. It happens.
I’m not averse to spending money on this stuff, thermal is VERY expensive however a friend is manufacturing (whitelisting) either NV or Thermal gear (I’m staying general) for a WELL KNOWN manufacturer, so I know what this stuff costs to build and it’s nowhere near what I thought. My friend is doing very very well as is the brand and retailers- I’m not going to get any more specific, the new product is going to be rolled out at SHOT so naming names and products and cost probably isn’t a good idea for anyone. I know next to nothing about this stuff compared to most but my understanding is that whatever it is is going to grab attention.
I think that I want a vehicle mounted IR camera/scanner for predator/pig hunting at night. IfiRay is one of two that I’ve found that interests me, I can see mounting it on a lifted (and quiet) truck, running lights out w/NV on any number of HUGE ranches that I’ve got access to and having an awesome time…a tablet connected, scanning, locating…you get the picture.
Here’s the question- am I correct in my conclusion that Nocpix is white labeling their system to IfiRay? Does anyone know or can anyone find a place that sells Nocpix under their brand? It looks to me as though it’s the same thing.
The ONLY reason I’m asking is if this is what’s happening, direct from the manufacturer or under their original brand at retail may be less expensive, and maybe even significantly less expensive than the $6500 (plus whatever accessories one might want/need) device I’m circling, looking at online.
I could be full of it, it very well may be two different products and the Nocpix may be a terrible idea but it’s weird…they seem to be marketing it but it’s nowhere to be found and purchased.
Any insight?
