Anyone have any luck refinishing Uukha limbs?

I know of limbstations and painting them, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever been able to strip the finish and graphics and just put a more durable matte clear coat on them.

I've painted, clear coated, limbsationed and Snake skinned limbs with the limbsataons my least favorite- lasted a week and I stripped them off- too shiny.

Prep is critical.

My snake skinned limbs have 5 coats of Spray polyurethane over them.... one set is 14 years old still excellent. Matt poly might still give a little reflection of sun....but if you mist a couple coats over one or two regular coats, it gives it a dimpled finish which is the way to go I think.

Finishes will react with one another. You will have to sand them down to raw edges and glass to prevent any possible reaction. Wipe down and no fingerprints. Then I sealed mine when I was a Boyer with three to four coats of shellac. Green scruby pad inbetween coats to hit the high spots. Then spray with a two part epoxy finish for best results. Krystal, buff-hide, or thunderbird.

It’s not that hard if you have the patience to paint.

Appreciate all the responses. I'm currently weighing upgrading my ILF limbs and was thinking about sticking with Uukha (the new U5 limbs look awesome), but I have had the finish on my Gobi's flake pretty bad after some very average use.

There for a while they were having problems with their finish. I’m not sure if they have that resolved yet or not. I have three sets of them and all the finishes are fine.
