Lots of stuff in there. I agreed with some and disagreed with some of the conversation. Guess as a resident, it's probably normal to be a division critic and see a less rosy outlook. Always nice to hear the details of how things work the way they do.

Thanks for putting this one out.
Regarding of quality vs opportunity we'd be in a better place if more hunters were like Travis.
Thanks man!

I know it’s not a super popular opinion, but I feel like there is a war on general season, high opportunity type hunting by many hunters just to increase the chance at a big buck or bull. I use to be that hunter 🤣 but as time goes on and I get older, it’s hard to watch where western hunting is heading in that regard.

I’ve seen some crazy loss of opportunity in 20 years. Opportunity to hunt is important. The weekend warrior or “once a year” hunter is a vital piece to the hunting community.

I am really interested to see what comes out of the new mule deer plan.

I really hope there is a massive push for opportunity on general seasons. If Utah is not careful, general will become limited entry and limited entry will become once in a lifetime.

They need to stop just cutting tags and take them from high success to low success hunts. The unit I hunt has a rifle success of 30% and archery of 10%. Instead of just cutting tags, they should reduce those given to rifle season, give them to archery. You saved deer and still provided an opportunity for people to hunt…just got to do it with a bow.

But watching the board this last time, there is little the division can do when the board is too scared to back them.
