UT Unit 8 Mule Deer Hunt

I am looking into hunting general archery season in unit 8 of Utah this year has anyone hunted the early season in Utah unit 8. i understand if you dont want to give up your spots im new to the western game just looking for some direction. thanks in advance

Awesome unit.
I've never found a deer honey hole while there but more that they are evenly dispersed.
Are you planning on packing in or truck hunting?
Why not get an otc elk tag while your at it?

I've been hunting Utah all my life but I'm still not used to unit numbers as that's a fairly recent deal. What's the name of the unit? I'm fairly close but can't rember which direction it is from where I hunt

I was thinking the same thing what's unit 8? I've never heard anyone refer to a unit by number. Wish I could help but have to look up how the units are numbered

i just put in all my utah apps in this morning...still looked up everything by name.
i wish every state had the same website as utah

It's the north slope.
Even before the change from 5 regions to 30 units herds where assigned a unit number.
Jesse - If it were me I'd rent 2 pack goats from the dude in Evanston and spend 2 weeks above treeline. One goat to pack water and other half your gear. But a more reasonable deal would be to just spend as much time up high as you could.
It could easy be my limitations but it seems like your just getting lucky to find a buck in the thick pines.

Aww gotcha, ya I hunt south slope, however I have hunted right along the highline trail in many areas and chased some good animals so I'm sure hopping to the other side of the ridge should be similar
