Looking at pulling a cow tag. Two options: Early Oct or later November.

I love early Oct in the mountains and it would be nice to hear some bugles. However, I am worried about crowding as its open the same time as the Spike hunt. How crowded are these hunts? We wont be close to Salt Lake but will be somewhat "close" to roads as I will be with my 75yo dad.

Should we just opt for a later season hunt? Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Get ready for the gong show if you do October rifle. All the northern and central units will be loaded with road hunters.

IMO November and later hunts increase the odds of cows being closer to roads and mellow terrain

Keep in mind that the muzzleloader and rifle deer hunts are around the same time, so non-stop people action.

Thanks. Sounds like I have some thinking to do. I do like to feel like I am "getting away" even if its just a truck based cow hunt.
