WTS/WTT USPS Will Slow way down starting today

Just an Article I found online. Looks like USPS will slow their mail delivery down to speeds not seen since 1970s. This is bad news for those who buy and sell alot of gear. Be aware. Maybe time to start looking at UPS and Fedex.

I read that earlier.

I buy and sell a lot on arfcom and bdoutdoors. As it's always faster and just a tad more, I always ship USPS Priority....not First Class. First Class sucks as it is right now and hate it when I'm waiting on something First Class. If I sell something, a buck or two more is fine for me using Priority....hell, I usually use the Priority flat rate anyway.

But...for those using first class....get ready for the slooooooow.

If this affects Priority too...who knows. Reading all of the news on it, they keep saying First Class.

Yeah I hope it does not affect Priority I do the same and always use that. Will have to test it out.

USPS Priority has gone up quite a bit in cost the past year or two. But it's still the best service IMO.

They said the average package cost would also go up $5 in cost. So higher prices AND less efficiency........yep, seems about par for the day and age we're living in.

Our old postmaster told me that first class and priority are handled both the same. Perhaps that will no longer be the case, I didn’t read the article.

I could make that money back for them in less than a year and they could all keep their jobs. Simply make unwanted junk mail illegal to send via USPS

It’s mainly going to get slower for packages traveling a really long ways. If it doesn’t have to be processed through multiple plants the difference is not going to be much. It’s an announcement basically that should of happened earlier in the pandemic but never did. Prices are still less then ups and Fedex, I’ve had one issue of lost item and it was a pain in my ass but I’ve also had issues with ups. No dog in this fight for me but I’ll continue to save money and ship Usps

That and the catalogs.......my mom was the catalog queen. She'd have 20 catalogs show up a day. Well, she passed away this year and I had all her mail forwarded to me. The first thing I asked before submitting the request was "Will catalogs and junk mail forward as well"? They said "no, only first class or priority will forward". OK.......then why am I suddenly getting all her catalogs that don't have a forward sticker on them.........but are fully addressed to her at my address? Even more bizarre is that my dad passed away 6 years ago, and now I'm getting "welcome to the neighborhood" and every other junk mail for him. How is that possible unless the PO sold that information to someone? Time to forward all their mail again.......to somewhere else.

A couple bank statements and something from MetLife (home owners insurance). Why does it have to be so hard to get this crap stopped!

Yep its been getting slower and slower the past year. Waiting 7 days on Priority Mail from La. to NC a pair of NL Pures. I leave in 4 days on a hunt. Just my Luck

I ship packages via UPS Ground and they are way faster and it's typically cheaper than USPS if I pay for the shipping online rather than at UPS because they offer promo codes. I've never had a UPS package lost and they are almost always on time. I can't say the same about USPS at all. Not too mention, my actual mailman is a really nice guy, but the people working inside the post office are incompetent, unpleasant a-holes.

I had a package scheduled to be delivered Sept 17. I haven’t seen it yet.
