usmc filbe

I used one in the marine corps and bought one off of another marine right before I got out (still have it). I like it for what it is but I believe there are a lot better and more comfortable packs out there. It's pretty huge with the ability to put a tremendous amount of gear in it. I do like it a lot more than it's predecessor the ILBE pack. I will say the original FILBE pack was sewn in a way that you could actually rip the shoulder straps out of the bag if you tried to pick it up by one strap when fully loaded. There are some kits out there that fix this issue but I just used some 550 cord which worked great. It's hard to explain what I am talking about but I will try to get the pack out later and take pics for you. Why are you asking about the FILBE anyways? What would you use it for? Hunting, camping?

I have one and like it. It is heavier than most top shelf hunting rigs. The frame isn’t great and the suspension and straps aren’t either but they work. The bag is top notch for mil spec. I have had 80 pounds in mine. I wouldn’t say it carries as well as some high end packs but it works. For the right price, I think it is the best deal going for a hunting pack. I wouldn’t pay $300 or whatever they ask for brand new. I bought mine frame and all from a military forum for under $100. Maybe $75. Check eBay. Mine is now wearing an older mystery ranch Nice frame and is actually quite a good hauler. Those nice frames can be grabbed cheap on eBay also.

Got one for $25 shipped on Fleabay and use it on Mystery Ranch NICE frame. Heavy but absolutely bomb proof!! I can pack an absolute ton of stuff which is good and bad :) I have only used it on one 6 day trip and it was good but I have a crew cab I like better because of the flexibility to adapt the pack to the size of the load. For the price I can't beat it and you can see the Dana Gleason (Mystery Ranch/Dana Designs) influence on the pack. Careful buying them online most are surplus turn ins but if you are careful you can find a decent one.

I had one... I did an over night trip with it in the summer waiting on my Kifaru. It was hell as far as comfort. It flat sucked.

Marines are definitely tougher than I am!!!

They are definitely a durable bag and well built. But between a weekend with one in the mountains or watching Netflix in my Boxers... Better get that popcorn going!
