Used stuff prices

I have found the exact opposite.

I have a 15 foot trailer that is cherry, and I am almost giving away.

People arnt buying $hit right now. Its night and day different than a few years ago. 3 years ago, I could have sold this trailer for $3,000 easily.

I have been asking $2000 and no bites. It blows my mind. lol

New Tires
New Lights and wiring.
New Bearing Buddies.
New Floor.
Heavy gauge fenders.

It literally looks brand new, and I have not had 1 person even call me about it yet and I have it listed in several places.

I think the used prices have gotten better as of late...a year ago they were worse. I think the tarrifs are going to have them going back up soon.

FB and Craigslist stuff seems to sit alot longer or never sell down here. I look at stuff all the time, 6-10 months later it's still there. Jeeps are the same as the old Cummins, everyone wants top dollar some sell most don't. I'm in the same boat AS Mallardsx2, I have a 18ft 2021 flatbed can't give it away. Payed $5000 plus during covid out of nessetity and now can't get $3500 for it.

This is no joke. I am a fan of the 80’s and 90’s Ford diesels. The IDI’s that predate the power stroke and everyone hates 😂 They used to be super cheap because nobody wanted them. They are selling for 5x what they were a few years ago. Glad I have one already because there is no way I would be paying the going rate today.

Covid jacked all pricing up. I had a 3 year old kawasaki teryx4 thay I sold for the same price it bought it new and people were lining up to buy it. Things seem to be stabilizing but there's always going to be people looking for something not available new and availability and demand determines pricing.

I’ve got a ‘91 Gen 1 Cummins Turbo with 105k on the odometer I’ve been thinking of selling. Not perfect, but pretty good shape. This thread makes me think it might be worth something!

I went shopping for that exact truck a while back- it should bring a premium. I gave up on that plan.

Well prices are higher than they were 10 years ago, it does seem like it is softening from the COVID rush. During COVID it seemed like any decent truck with anything less than 200k was going for $40k plus. I’m starting to see some decent trucks closer to $30k with lower miles. Still not something that I am going to prioritize my spending on, but much more reasonable.

That being said, a local dealer just offered $1k under what we paid for my work truck that I have put 55k on.

My thought is several factors are driving the crazy prices. Folks watch the televised car auctions and see huge prices on old trucks, Broncos, etc. and think they have a classic that someone will want to restore. Then the Covid price escalations and low used inventory makes them think they can still get high dollars. Finally, the prices of new have skyrocketed, so used prices have increased along with the inflation. If things are priced right they will sell quickly. We sold a Polaris Sportsman a few months ago on Marketplace. Listed it on a Thursday and it sold on Friday and had 8 other folks who wanted it after it sold.

There's a 94 Toyota for $18k in the classifieds here.
Right before Covid hit (like Feb 2020) I found a mint garaged 94 Toyota Xtracab SR5 4x4 with the V6 (just like my '89) and 90k miles for $8500. I was ready to drive the 150 miles immediately to get it, and then saw the picture showing that it was an auto transmission. Went from an immediate high, to an immediate low. Had I been thinking ahead at the time though, I would have still bought it and given to my youngest daughter.

I sold a 01 ford ranger in 2016 for $3000, I now see them on marketplace for about $5-6000 in worse condition and higher miles. Yet my 2016 f150 has lost $15k in value in the last 2 years.

FB marketplace is a huge mess and the prices aren’t real, mostly hopes/dreams/scammers. If you don’t believe me try to sell your stuff on there 😂. I have sold quite a bit on there, but rarely buy anything. The stuff I have sold has been way below what most are asking. Selling hunting items is a nightmare compared to this site.

In my area I have noticed a huge increase in “flippers”. I can watch trucks/equipment sell at auction one week and be on FB for 2x the price the next week. I don’t mind the guys who are honest about it and fix stuff up before they sell it, but quite a few are just trying to hose people.

Flippers have gotten so bad. i use to be able to buy a truck or a jeep with a bad transmission and fix it and resale it and make a little money but now everyone thinks they are a flipper and over pay for a broke car. and expect to make money
