USDA rescinds roadless rule

True , I was trying to set a baseline on where I’d like to see the management get to .

What’s interesting is pondering what was the nexus of the roadless rule ?
What special interests pushed for it ?
What masters did it serve ?
Was it budget related because in the 25 years pre roadless rule the usfs became a special interest driven agency that could only hemorrhage $ ?

Well I can gaurantee you 99% of hunters or true outdoorsmen were not advocating for this rule when it was adopted . Why on earth are we expected to defend it when it is finally removed ?
What does any of that matter? The fact of the matter is whether 99% of road hunters voted for that or not, it is undeniable that the law has benefited animal populations, and the forest itself. And this argument about forest management and fire prevention is trash. I was raised in the mountains where the fire management was non existent and these were all areas where vehicles were allowed to go in (so all the sudden cause the laws rescinded the Governments gonna actually work?) IDK at what point ppl are gonna figure out the Government is not our friend. Nothing they do is for your benefit. NOTHING. Trump is attempting to turn our land into a money making scheme at the behest of all of us. Those lands are the last place in this country I don't have to see road hunters with 3-4 in a truck driving in circles waiting to run a deer over. Its the last place in this country with the idea of the unknown. Its the last true adventure and the fact that this is even a discussion (hunters included) shows where this generation and this country is at.

You do realize Inventoried Roadless Areas aren’t designated wilderness? If they reversed the original EO tonight you would still have 235 million acres of designated wilderness, WSAs and a host over other areas that won’t see a rig.

The idea that it can’t help fire is simply not true. I just looked over an OP’s map that is planning on using a host of roads as firing lines. Additional I can’t count how many times this summer I’ve heard “ this fire is in a not easily accessible area due to no roads”.

If they start taking about building roads in Wilderness areas I’ll be right there with you saying no but what they are purposing now is needed.

Many roadless areas do land in wilderness areas. I'm literally hunting in one this year. I hunted it in the 90's as well when it allowed vehicles in and remember all of that. There are pre existing roads there. This area would fall under the new proposal. So I assume your right about much of this landing in non wilderness areas as well. There is a huge difference between saying it could help fire prevention and them actually doing it. I've lived through two of the largest wildfires this country has seen and have watched the complete disregard for fire prevention this country has all the sudden taken. I am not interested in them having the ability to fight fires that they have caused. I am interested in them preventing fires like they somehow had no problem doing in the past. Every fire started where I'm at over the last 20 years has been in a roaded, vehicles allowed areas. Some of them actually being started by vehicles themselves. They did real shit jobs at putting those out, with all their roads, access, etc. I don't care about all their fancy maps where they're gonna put fire lines (or attempt to). Bottom line; the Federal Government (state as well) is incompetent, this is not about fire prevention, this started with covid, and all of the gates they put up, all the laws they created to keep you out of the forest, the continual push to steal land, water, resources, from the American people. This is what this is about. I truly feel sorry for anyone who thinks this is so the Government can help you.

This is the problem, Inventoried Roadless Areas aren’t Wilderness. They are two different designations that I don’t think you understand the difference between.

As far as fire management being in a shit state, I don’t disagree.
