The tail of two Conners. Hellebuyck plays lights out and gives us a chance to win. McDavid disappears when the chips are down, once again, forces it 1 on 3, turns it over, then can’t be bothered to actually get back on the rush and prevent the cross slot pass to toothless Jack Hughes for the winner.
As an enthusiastic Avs fan, I do feel bad for MacKinnon missing the back door tap in. He will take that to the grave.
 
The Hellebuyck stick save on Toews is the circus play that most will and should remember, but also: 1) McAvoy blocked one from deep in the crease with hands and body that had already beaten Hellebuyck 2) Mackinnon had a wiiiiide open net and missed it badly (https://www.reddit.com/r/nhl/s/Kij42rUul0) 3) on the final goal, it was against McDavid, Makar, and MacKinnon, easily the 3 best active hockey players in the entire world... Hughes (not a defenseman) stopped McDavid on the rush and beat him for possession, Hughes beat Makar to clear it, and Werenski muscled it from MacKinnon to make the pass...3 times in about 12 seconds they beat the 3 fastest and best puck possession players in the game. They absolutely won because of Hellebuyck, but that whole game was legendary.

Congrats to team USA on your win. I haven't been proud of Canada for a very long time and look forward to Western Canada separation minus Vancouver/Victoria. It's embarrassing how the boomers and city dwellers in Canada have such a built in victim mindset. It's fun to watch the liberal meltdown haha. You know they all had their tweets ready to give it to the Orange Man if they won. Not all of us are out of touch liberal boomers here by the way. Elbows up there comrades!

I feel bad for the Canadian team though. The video of McKinnon getting the stuffed animal is sad and funny at the same time.

I'm sure there has been a few jumpers reported on the Port Mann and Lions Gate bridge early today. I'm sure old Timmy H had to dispose of a few cups as well. Oh....... is Timmy H even Canadian these days? Great game, the US got lucky as hell.

That was an impressive game! I find it ironic that the US goalie plays in Winnipeg, and the Canadian goalie plays for the Flyers. Hellebuyck is going to get booed out of the rink when he shows up to practice!
 
Was a ton of fun to watch. Was awesome to see Hellebuyck finally have such a great game. The clip of MacKinnon after they give him the stuffed animal is great.
