Hey all,

New hunter here and have made 5+ trips to different public lands in central CA (1-2 hours around Sacramento) area with no luck. Buddy was able to bag a Turkey on private land, but haven't seen much else anywhere. I'm not asking anyone to give up their spot, but can someone be gracious enough to at least point me in the right direction? Hoping to try and get a Turkey before season end and maybe get on some quail. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I see plenty on the WMA's near rivers and creeks. If you can find open foothill land near Placerville or Auburn you should have some luck. Spenceville used to have birds but I haven't been in probably 20 years. Birds local to me (private unfortunately) that I see almost every day have disappeared since the temps dropped quite a bit. Like pigs, CA has a crap load of birds and also like pigs, are found very often on private. Good luck!

Thanks Rob. I went out to Knoxville WA and hiked 3-4 miles in with no luck. I read a little on Spenceville, maybe ill give that a shot. Thanks for the tip!

Spenceville and knoxville both have birds (as of last spring when I was out there at least). Might be a long walk or a long wait depending on how you like to hunt but they're there
