Upland bird hunting in south Texas

I’ve finally started to go hunting again in my mid 50’s. Haven’t gone since my early 20’s. You know life, family, work.

I came upon a Benelli Nova for $300 at my local pawn shop. I talked the guy down to $250 out the door. Weirdly enough a friend just happened to invite me to go dive hunting. First time, all I shot was clouds. Second time, I got 2! I was thrilled. Hoping to go again this year. Ok that’s my story. Anyone else down south hunt birds? Some pics:

When I was a young man all I hunted were ducks. Dark to dark for a few seconds of shooting
As a middle aged man I hunted pheasants, blue skies, crisp air, good exercise and a little more shooting
As an old man I dove hunt, sit on a stool, sweat and shoot a couple of boxes of shells in a couple of hours, wished I had started earlier
