I have the opportunity to upgrade my iPhone at work and if i want to get something more than the base model, i have to pay the difference. I know i will need to get a new ollin digi-scoping adaptor no matter what. I like the larger phones so I'm looking at the 16+ or Pro Max. My question is the 16 Pro Max worth the $300 hit or will i be happy with the 16+ in a hunting application? TIA

16 $0
16 plus $100
16 Pro $200
16 Pro Max $400

I would get the 16 pro but not the max. With the 16 model the pro has all the same camera features as the pro max, in the past people used to go with the bigger phone to get the better camera features but no one really likes how big it is. My wife and I are still on the 12th Pro and from the homework I’ve done the pro series tends to do better down the road keeping up with everything as it has a little better processor than the standard models.

I am with Tony on this and it has been my choice on the last several upgrades I have made. The Pro is definitely worth it but the max is not. If you really have the itch to spend more money on the phone get more storage. You can never have to much memory especially if you are digiscoping or recording video in RAW.

I went 16 pro for above mentioned reasons. I wanted the features but don't care for the size of the max.

I upgraded to the 16 Pro Max this year from a 12 Pro Max. I really enjoyed the new dedicated camera button, and what used to be the silencing switch above the volume button buttons has turned into a programmable button. I’ve been using that as a flashlight button, and it’s really nice being able to have a flashlight from a physical button on your phone.

Regarding the size: if you have large hands, and you are accustomed to the max size, go with that. I for one really like the larger size of the bigger phones, and I feel like a T-Rex or something when I have to handle a regular iPhone. If you’re in that camp go with the max.

I just upgraded 3 phones on my business account. Read several articles & watched several YT videos on the differences between the 16 vs the pro. Common theme was unless you do serious photography / video it wasn't worth the $$ for the pro. Agree with above, more important to me to have extra storage.

I just went 13 to 16 pro last wekeend. I wanted the satellite texting, more storage, longer battery and a better camera but my old phone was working fine. So far a week in the basic phone functionality itself is no different. I dont like a big phone and so always avoid the max. The annoying part is having to get mew charging cables (usbc).

All depends on your use. To me if youre getting it relatively cheap for work, its just do you want the fringe benefits. Sadly I had to pay full freight and Im questioning the decision but think Ill be happy during all my upcoming travel for the reasons I wanted it.

Im also going to try the epoch digiscoping setup to avoid having to always upgrade/swap out. Tired of always having to redo digiscoping with a new phone.

Has anyone used the new satellite texting capability extensively?? Just curious if it is still in development or a useful feature right now....I have an Iphone 14 pro max that should be good to go for several more years but sat texting would be a game changer....

Little late, but I upgraded from a 13 Pro to a 16 Pro about 6 months ago and wish I hadn’t. CarPlay and Siri don’t play well with my truck and the 16.

I hate to be irrelavent but I don't want a bigger, better phone. I have a 5 something and nearly everything is turned off. When I go into the woods I put it on airplane mode. Somedays I have a reluctance in turning things back on.

If it doesn't fit in a front shirt pocket it doesn't need to come along. I don't deny the desires of other people but I really hate the lack of choice for many of us. I have many friends that are still using old flip phones and I think that may be an option in my future.

A lot - simple and quick once you get the hang of it.

Go find a spot that lacks service and try it out

Might even be able to trick the phone into thinking you don’t have service to try out satellite option

*** test it out before you really need it OR want to depend on it ***

First time I tried it was awkward and then after a few tries it is now super simple and quick.

Phone cases can make or break the experience, especially how it feels being utilized in your hand.

I suggest going into phone store that has a big selection of cases and finding the everyday carry case you want. Because some bulky cases can make a regular feel like a Max. And some slim cases can lessen the Max bulkiness.

Also depends on IF you watch videos / read a lot on phone OR just use for texting and light use (maybe you use iPad or computer for more in depth digital use).

Either way. Go and grab a phone and see how it works in your hands and compare model sizes. And single handed too because nothing like dropping phone on a hike OR you can’t use it single handed out on the go hiking / hunting. This is where the case size plays into it too.

Otherwise - this discussion is like a long bed truck -VS- a short bed truck discussion. It’s still a truck at the end of the day lol.

Pretty legit, I used all snowmobiling season this year. Enough so, I dropped my Zoleo payments.

I’ve always been a smaller iPhone guy. This year I got the 16 pro max because it has a bigger battery and way longer battery life. I’m really happy with the choice and like the larger size much better when using mapping software too and the battery life is awesome!! I’d go with the pro max again for sure, actuality went with the 500GB version too.

Just his week I changed service providers and upgraded from the 12 mini to the 16 Pro. I suppose it's a nicer phone and all, but I know I don't know how to use half of it's features, and never will. The size of the 12 mini is what appealed to me. The 16 is almost a two-handed phone if you want to reach the entire screen while using it.

If there's really no need to change phones, then why bother? If you use your phone for entertainment, then it might be reasonable. I text, do some banking, use the camera. The 12 mini covered those bases just fine for me, and fit more easily in my pocket.

I wanted the ability to do satellite texting, longer battery life and increased memory, so i opted for the pro? Did I need one, probably not but if work is going to pay for most of it, why not. It also may give me the ability to ditch the inReach but will keep it for another year, just to be safe. 2 is one right?
